How many inquiries is too much?

I just got a mortgage and the day after closing I went on an app spree. I applied at 7 different places two approved me. My CU and Home depot and the others(GEMB-Lowes, Best Buy, American Express etc) stated that I had too many inquiries.

My inquiries stem from obtaining a mortgage.; I have about 12 inquiries total in the past 2 years. How is that too much?

My scores are 696 ex, 684 TU, 674 EQ

Equifax - 628, Experian -627, Transunion- 654 In the garden until 01/01/2019

Re: How many inquiries is too much?

Well, now you probably do have too many inquiries, but when this happens after mortgage shopping, point out to them that most inqs were for that, and you really weren't buying 8 different houses.

Their computers count inqs without noticing that they are for mortgages. So six inqs for CC's would be too many, while 6 inqs for a mortgage would not.

You can still try asking for a recon, but now the CC inqs will display, so no telling if that will work.

When you apply for anything, that inq hits that very moment. I once had to untangle an app over the phone with a BofA CSR. When I pulled a full EX at the end of the phone call, it was displaying.

Try to sort out the INQ's by CRB. It may not be too late to recon your apps, but we really need to know what is showing up where.
