So last time I applied for the Gold Crard they wanted access to my checking account. I granted them access to one of them where i keep a couple thousand and generally deposit $500 to $1000 to pay bills from every couple of weeks. They declined saying deposits and balance was too low which seems crazy
Most of my money is kept in a couple HYSA and investments but certainly don't want to give them access to everything, so what are they looking for specifically in deposits.
Never been overdrafted or ran any type of negative balances have had the account for years.
They denied me for the bcp recently and my balance / deposit activity is very similar to yours
but the reason they gave wasn't about my deposits and balance history
'in our estimation the amount you have paid on your credit cards in the past year is too low'
what?? I can't pay them any more than I allready do. I pif monthly

they want to see the bank account your income goes into
Well then I guess I'll have to forget about them. My pay is deposited into multiple accounts including HYSA and investments and I'm not willing to grant them access to all that financial data for a charge card. Unfortunately Amex is just not reasonable when it comes to verifying employment. They coil just call my employer and be done with it. This would avoid the intrusive data collection scam they have going

Better to steer clear of AMEX altogether unless you're comfortable giving them that account access/info.
They just yanked the leash on my accounts because I refused to give them what they wanted. Life goes on. There are many fish in the Credit Sea

Since they're essentially looking for income verification, did you offer them a paystub instead?

They're basically doing an "UltraFICO" where your credit rating is probably marginal so they want to see how much money you have.
Either show them everything or don't bother, because having a small amount in the account you showed them just leads to a denial.
