How much of a credit limit jump is reasonable?

I finally got a CLI increase with Discover to 3k. I know some cards like Visa Infinite need a $5000 min credit line sometimes, how big of a credit line should you have on a current card to be able to reasonably expect that an issuer would be willing to hand out that sort of credit limit? I realize it will of course vary on a lot of factors, just curious in general.

I really wonder sometimes if these questions are posted by an AI to gather data.

Depends on the lender, there are a few that commonly will 3X the credit limit they give you initially. Visa Infinite is usually 10k min and Visa Signature is usually 5k and sometimes you just have to get one lender to bite for the rest to follow. As of right now my highest limit is 2k but I'm preapporoved for a couple of Visa infinites that I wasn't a few months ago so it's up to your other stats as well.

As for the AI comment, I wouldn't mind if that the case, I'd love to be able to ask a GPT some niche questions and get real answers, the data is always going somewhere regardless.

That is determined by the issuer and all of them seem to follow different practices.

My experience with some.. Discover likes alot of churn and balances made balances paid off over time to give any credit limits increases. I only got a Discover It for the cash back matching and occasionaly 5%. They gave me 7k intially and never have increased it.

Capitol One likes use as well. Got a Venture with 10k limit. Anytime I ask for a limit increase they instant reply that I do not utilize the credit limit I have.

I am Amex heavy and have found that when your eliable to increase credit lines the 3x limit does very much apply. Delta Reserve went this week from 4400 to 13,000. Amex BCP went from 2k to 6k.

Just give it time, charge pay the balance show some churn and youll get regular credit line increases
