How sad is this....?

So I make my living as a waitress right now. And today I realized how addicted I am to this forum and how much it has changed my views on things. A guy paid with an Amex Gold reward plus card, and I ran up to a friend of mine and was like. OMG, look. This card is soooo cool. It's an AmEx so it's hard to get and the rewards program for this card rocks. He looked at me like was insane. And whenever other people pay with credit cards, like discover, I think of great their score must be. How I wish I had their credit. It's like I'm jugding people based on what credit cards they have, lusting after some of their cards and scores. Oh well, someday I'll be able to get a prime card too!!!!!Smiley Wink. Just thought I'd share.

Please don't think you are the only one addicted  Smiley Very Happy
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Perhaps their scores were good or even great when they applied. What we (you) don't know is if there scores are now in the toilet b/c their cards are nearly maxed-out!Smiley Tongue I really think amongst CCCs DISScover has some of the most stringent underwriting. Tough card to get approved for. Any wonder that we see so few Discover posts at this forum...most of us are in credit repair mode.

Re: How sad is this....?

If I had read this forum before I applied for the Discover I would have waited until all my scores were in the 700s. I didn't know. I just thought it would be a good card to have and applied on a fluke (07/07), and got it.  My FICO scores prior (4/07) to applying were mid 600s, but afterwards FICO scores were:
EX 701
EQ 677
TU 672.

Re: How sad is this....?

Imagine how surprised you'll be when you figure out that the AMEX Gold Rewards card really isn't one of the *hard to get* AMEX cards.

Once you have an AMEX they try to push this card and the Delta Gold on you like a drug.

If I were going to be impressed with someone based on the cards they had Discover and PenFed would certainly be higher than AMEX on my list.

In fact I'd be more *impressed* with a BofA AMEX than an American Express AMEX, unless it's a Centurion as Tuscani mentioned - which I don't think I'll ever see outside of a picture online anyway.

American Express the company isn't as prestigious as people think as they have become much easier to get than in the past.

I've seen one of those Centurions!!! My boss has one. Of course I didn't know how "prestigious" it was until now. The first thing out of my mouth when I saw that card was, "That's a funky looking card." hahaha
