This is just a curiousity more than anything. I was approved about 2 weeks ago for the BCP and I think my next card will be the Hilton honors. But I'm wondering how soon amex opens the door to second cards? 1 yr? 6 months?

Haha Ok @TheFIGuy ... I just barely squeaked in with the BCP so I don't want to push my luck but it's def good to know. But once I get a score boost in a few months I think I'll go for it.
@Doodlebug30 Well, you didn't tell me your "barley" squeaked in your original post 
. Does this mean you only got a 1k starting limit (SL)? IIRC, YMMV, but AMEX will not HP you again for the second card inside the 30/days window. If you're declined, you have to wait a min. 30/days anyway, so, might as well take the shot!

When I barely squeaked in with the Gold Card last July - which is a long and weird story in and of itself - I wasn't preapproved for any other Amex card until exactly one month later, when suddenly I was preapproved for all of the cobrands. Not sure if that's a universal thing or specific to me. My profile is weird. But fwiw.
Best thing you can do is check preapproval. Log into the Amex site, find a card you want, click the blue Apply button, and see what the big text at the top of the screen says. What you want it to say is "Doodlebug30, you are preapproved!" Amex preapprovals are very solid IMO. Not to be confused with prequalifications, which are less reliable (though more often right than wrong).
