Who knows with AmEx, though.
I believe that the usual procedure is to call CS and give them the old account number and let them try to verify the "member since" in their files. Once they do so, then ask them to reissue the current card with the old date, and ask them to confirm that the current card will report the old date to the credit bureaus.
As a member since 2008, I haven't had the thrill of this, alas.
But my second card did appear with the older year on it without my having to ask.
* wonders how many people are now pulling out desk and kitchen drawers and dumping them in hopes of finding a grubby old Green *
I actually had forgotten about my grubby old Green entirely until AFTER I had applied for the Costco card, been approved and saw the Member Since date on the account on their Web site. It made me feel very good that I closed the account way back when of my own accord and hadn't defaulted or been closed by Amex
Every cloud has some kind of silver lining I guess!
I have a similar inquiry the thing is I originally wanted to apply for the gold charge card but I ended up getting approved with the true earnings card last week. I don't have multiple cards for I rely more with my debit mc and constantly use my platinum hsbc mc from time to time. Now since I was approved with the TE card with 2500 limit, will I still be eligible to apply for a charge card? Or do I have to wait for 6 months or till next year to apply? Thanks!

I thought you had to wait 90 days from submitting a new app for another amex card but I could be wrong...

I think you can apply for another card sooner than 90 days. I got the TE last August and Zync in September, also SPG in late February and Blue Cash Preferred yesterday. YMMV though. I ran a lot through those first 3 cards as soon as I received them and paid them off just as quickly. I think Amex likes to give out their charge cards more than revolvers from what I've read on these forums.

hmmmm I've been seeing mixed responsed as the waiting time period to apply for different amex cards....I was actually planning of applying next month, since I'm so curious if I will be approved or denied, but I guess I just need to be convinced to not to so that way it won't hurt my score as well.
I really do hope that I will be granted with a charge card, we'll see if that happens, thanks!! :0)
