@Anonymous wrote:Nixon, if it were my card, it would already be closed. I can't get my husband to close it and it is his card. We want to buy a house this year and he is concerned it will hurt his credit. His mentality is, "It is only $8 a month for now, big deal". I told him it will stay on there for 10 years. It won't hurt his utilization because he rarely uses credit. He said but it will show CLOSED and I don't like that *sigh*
I gotcha.
I closed mine today...they tried to offer me a lower interest rate for 6 months and a cli for $25! LOL they kept asking me if I was sure!
I requested to speak to someone in the US...to confirm that it was closed and requested a letter be mailed to me....
so we'll see what happens.
i think I will fax a letter confirming in the morning.

A credit CLI of $25? What??? Good grief, good you closed that thing out..![]()
No...to clarify...they wanted me to pay them $25 to give me a cli!....I guess that is for processing a cli. Lol
they charge you for processing a cli

There's no option online to close the account. I've called twice, they've assured me it will be processed and closed. However, I keep getting bills for $8.25 (the annual fee, cleverly divided over the year!) plus interest (HOW, when it's a zero balance?).
How the heck do I close this piece of poop?
sorry to laugh
they want that AF. always company like this a PITA to close. i would file a complaint to the BBB and whatever other agency explaining to supervisor. im not taking no as a answer. that is sick. .
@Anonymous wrote:This is the one card my husband has that I HATE!!! He said when he got it, he didn't pay close enough attention. He thought it was capital one. It was his first card after the bankruptcy. I despise this monthly billing crap for the annual fee AND the interest that accumulates instantly. They make it impossible to keep one card below 10% for the best credit score situation. He is closing it soon as we can buy a house. I can't even get him to call and fight to have that annual fee changed. I now dread hearing him when he tries to cancel it. BLAH!!!
This is why cap one gets such a bad rap. people not paying attention to who they are banking with. me for one. i luv my cap one. even ive out grown them. they will always be best for me. as gave me a second chance. even after i burned them.

wow lol .. before closing mine they were offering me a CLI of 250 for 9.95 I believe... I have been getting emails and regular mail saying I can re-open my card without a HP, etc, etc... Gotta give them an A for effort..

I have a Credit One card, and not until I've lived on this site for the last 3 weeks did I see the light. I was even defending them when someone made a negative comment? However, aside for the fact that I need them for about 2-4 months longer (due to AAoA=1.7 years) I will be getting rid of them also. I have learned that are several cards that rebuilders can get that do not have the fees, fees and fees that come with Credit One. I also hate the monthly annual fee.
