Hey Everyone,
Just out of curiosity, my credit score falls in 700 - 749 range, but my credit history is low with an average age of 1 year as i got my 1st credit card in Jan 2016.
Currently, I have two credit cards oldest one from Boa with a credit limit of 9000 and another one from discover with a limit of 1350.
My question is, I get prequalified from most of the creditors like citi, capital one etc but I need a card from chase and I do not get pre-qualify for it.
I had already applied for chase freedom twice, first when my credit history was 6 months old and the 2nd time when my credit history was 9 months with an outcome of rejection twice.
So I have decided not to apply until i get prequalified, once of my friend got approved for chase CSR at an thin history of 6 months but he had an account with chase.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
Chances increase significantly of getting in after 1 year of history with other lenders. Assuming everything else in the profile is in clean and in check.
Did you try opening an account with Chase? I feel that helps a lot. I have had a checking and savings account with Chase, and when I applied for a Freedom card 6 months after I got my first credit card, I got approved it with a 500$ (pretty measly, but still) limit. 1 month back, after 6 months of use and payments on the Freedom, and with the total assets with Chase increasing beyond 10k, I got 'Selected for you' offers for the FU, CSP and Slate. Applied for the CSP, got approved with a 6k SL, with my first card opened in Feb 2016.
Maybe you could start by parking 300$ in a savings account? The card application does ask if you have accounts wth Chase.
I had a thin credit history. Not certain if it's relevant, but I created a Chase checking account with some fairly large auto deposits and was able to get CSP and Freedom within about 6 months of that. No pre-qual for either. I only had 2 cap 1 cards before that totalling 5K. Curious to hear if others think checking accounts influence anything.
Hello @Anonymous,
I've merged your multiple identical threads into one; please refrain from cross-posting since it can be confusing and it's against this site's terms of service.
Thanks for understanding!

Have you checked the pre-qual tool on their site? If so they also offer pre-approvals on their free credit report thing (Credit Journey?). Also if you are close to a branch you can go in and check for pre-approvals, which are off a different system than the ones you can look at online for yourself. Also do you just want a Chase card or particular card...if you just want Chase...what about the Amazon Prime card people have argued that it is the easist Chase card to get...
I was going to suggest the same thing, using the "pre-qualified offers" link on the Chase site. There you should be able to see if you're not able to get a Chase card, as those pre-quals are said to be about 90% solid.
Thanks, noted for future
Yup, tried that but it shows nothing went to branch even that shows nothing looking for Chase CSP.
