Sending love to Macy's!  I opened an acct with them in 1997 and closed it (stupidly) in 2006 not knowing the benefits of having a long credit history.  Called them today and they happily re-opened my acct WITHOUT a credit pull with my old credit limit!  LOVE TO MACYS!

I had the same experience with macys except it was twenty years ago when I worked for them, I had apped with them last month and they turned me down because they said I had an account with them that had a balance so Icalled a backdoor number, and get this the balance was 15.00 the lady said go into a store and pay it and she will have the credit department open a new account...

Yes I was able to keep my history from 1997 - I made sure to verify that.  They are simply re-opening my account.

My old limit was $1000 which is now my "new Limit" - it'll help my util greatly is what I'm trying to do right now!  It's odd because I called about a month ago to re-open and I was told that they would need to pull my credit in order to re-open my account, but this time I got lucky and got a REALLY NICE csr who said "no problem we'll just go ahead and reopen the account".

what a nice boost, that is really great to hear!  more evidence that 'say good bye and try again' can be key- 

isn't it awesome when you reach a csr that is just willing to go the extra distance for exceptional service.  yay for you!

My Macy's card was my first credit card. I will NEVER close this account. This company truly knows customer service (at least the CSR department does). They should train other credit companies reps...
