I've been looking at that PayPal MC because I do use PayPal to pay for a lot of things. Also, since TU is my strongest CRA, I thought I'd have a good shot at it. TU is the only CRA that deleted all of my late payments so far. I still have one collection on there, but it's from 6 years ago and I paid it in full last week. It's still not reporting, but do you think I'd have a good chance of being approved for that PayPal MC?
I think you do. A user got approved the PayPal MC with low 600 Fico scores. YMMV, of course. It's an easy card to get IMO.
It was 598, thank you very much. 😂😂😂
And how much were you approved for? I feel like they started me off super low!

I agree they did, however, it might have something to do with the uti of the WF card.
I would use the heck out of it, PIF and do a CLI in 90 days..
They are pretty good with a cli every 90 days.. Usually SP's too.

Sounds good! I set it up to pay for my $5 Patreon contribution and I was going to leave it at that. I think I'll use it at the grocery store and things like that and then just PIF. I'll check back in 90 days and see if I can get a CLI!

$700. But I have 20 years of credit history and 15 closed in good standing accounts on top of my current 9. My score is only low because I have 6 collections, 3 of which should have been removed by now and my utilization is reporting high because my paid down balances havent been updated yet.

It's such a pain waiting for those low balances to post! I had paid down my Wells Fargo from $850 down to $200 and of freaking course, 3 days before the statement date some expenses came up and I had to put them on my card... I've paid it back down to about $450, but it's still reporting at $789 or something. I'm curious to see what it'll do to my scores when I get it below 8.9%.
My current utilization is at 28% because of 2 added accounts ($300 PayPal MC and $800 Amazon store card) but it did nothing to raise my scores. Actually, my scores didn't move at all when those 2 accounts were added. Oh well... I think at this point the only thing that's going to raise my scores is time. My new Discover card hasn't posted yet, but I doubt it'll do much either. My car loan balance is still too high and so is my student loan balance. That's what all my reports say is holding my credit down at the moment.

OP a couple of things that reading over and seeing on your signature that raised a concern besides your decent utl in your WF card what is this Navient balance of 4800? Is that you as an AU? What is the limit on that? You mentioned that you had decent checking account balances but you run your WF and don’t PIF which makes sense why they said due to your checking account since they hold your DDA they can see what comes in and out of that in the form of a balance to confirm your income I guess. I went to a rebuild with them about 4 years ago and the thing I’ve learned from that is that credit is a privilege and not a right, and it took me a while to learn that lesson. Almost 2 years until they graduate and with no guidance either. No one would lend me anything not even a pencil! Now I’ve been blessed with all these offers and SL as well. One thing I’ve learned while in the rebuilding is don’t worry about the score but rather worry about the quality of the history. You are in the “fair” range and as most know a lot of lenders use EQ and EX than they do TU YYMV of course but I am more concern to find out why your scores are lower on those 2 besides the deletion of your collection. Also looks like a few newly opened accounts as well and that just freaks a lot of banks out especially with a thin file. I have both Wells Fargo as my main DDA bank and Chase and those two are pretty conservative and once your crack them they will warm up and give you the world. When I see people have those cards with decent limits is like hey guys I’m here I have that good credit life lol. I have my original secured card still at 600 and of course it’s SD since it never moved lol and I have a low limit on my Propel where I did a PC from Cash Wise which was opened during my rebuild journey and as of now I have the lowest tier interest rate for them which is a good sign that they trust me! Only reason I was TD was because I had 20 new account in 24 months at that time with 40 inquiries and of course WF being conservative they denied me but said to try again once those age some more. Sorry for the long rant but I wanted to chime in and see if I may help in any ways as well.
So my student loan with Navient was opened back in 2006. It was originally for $2,500, but because I never paid it, it basically doubled due to interest. I was able to rehab the loan for $5/month for 6 months about 2 years ago and have been paying $70/month since. I could actually pay more, and I do when I remember to do so. I have it automatically taken out of my checking account on the same day I get paid, so a lot of times I won't remember to go back on the site and pay an extra $50-$100.
I had 4 accounts with late payments and a collection account deleted from TU, which is why my scores are higher with them. The collection account is reporting as open and charge off right now with EQ and EX. So on the report where it mentions time since late, it shows that it was this month. TU doesn’t show a late since 4 years ago.
As for Wells Fargo, I honestly didn’t know they were so conservative, but I’m slowly learning that fact. I have had quite a few accounts opened in the past year because the past year is when I REALLY started getting serious about my credit. My dad was the one who told me to get the secured card through Wells Fargo, and told me to go through PenFed for the car loan. My scores were in the 580 range, so I don’t know how I managed to get approved through them. So yeah, quite a lot of accounts opened in the past year. I’m done applying for anything for a while and am just going to let my cards grow/age and pay off my loans. I’m using the secured card as a kind of savings in the meantime. I’ve been adding $100 to the limit here and there.
I guess I’ll just need to manage my Wells Fargo accounts a bit better. Having such a high balance on that card probably doesn’t look so good to them. What were your scores like when you were approved for the Wells Fargo Propel card?
I don't care for large banks, myself. I find it easier to work with CU's for CLI. I started with a secured visa w/NavyFed of $500 CL a year and a half ago, and am now at a $15,000.00 CL with my CashRewards Visa card and/a great introductory interst rate (2.9%), and capped at a reasonable one (16%) for me.

Well, it doesn't help that these banks process payments whenever they want to. My NFCU usually takes 2 days to post. I paid it off to make a large purchase and it took 5 days. I finally sent them a secured message because I thought I made a mistake. I didn't. I make multiple payments all the time because of the small limit. Now tell me why after the charge posted, I paid it off and it posted the next day....
