Re: I don't think I can hang with HSBC/Cap 1

I'm not sure if this will help you. I'm not sure how HSBC/Capital One operates since the merger but if you can, call the backdoor number for senior account manager for Capital One. I've had a late payment GW removed from 2009 recently with just a simple phone call.

Remember to be curtious and nice. Technically, they don't have to remove it because you did seek more credit and they are required to HP you for that. What you can ask them to do is to recode/mask the HP into a SP. Explain that the reps you spoke to said it would be a SP, and if you were told it would be a HP you wouldn't have gone through with it. If you can recall, offer to provide the time and date you called in so they can check phone records if need be. I've had luck with Chase to recode/mask a HP for the CLI that was promised to me as a SP.

AMEX: $25,000, CSR: $10,000, Chase Priority Club: $1,500, Freedom: $5000, Freedom Unlimited: $1000, Discover: $21,000, BoA $11,000, WF Cash Wise: $5000

It was the backdoor that started the whole mess. Honestly, I am hesitant to call anymore because they are trigger happy. I am actually beginning to question myself for responding to that letter. Last thing I want is another pull. lol, I think I would go over the deepend and have to be committed..lol. Heck, I don't even know whether I am communicating with Cap 1 or HSBC anymore.

Re: I don't think I can hang with HSBC/Cap 1

I fully understand. Chase created a HP for me under the same senario, a requested cli increase. They kept saying sp yet it was a hp. I'm just going to let it ride as it will not factor into my scoring in a year anyway. All other hp's fall of this fall so I will be down to one, then zero.

Updated scores 3/7/21 TU 849, EQ 829, Ex 818 (all Fico scores) Remember the Three P's: Pay early in Full, Pay on Time, Patience
