Boy, Chase really did not want to give me those UR Points that I fairly earned!

My issue was escalated to another CSR, who told me that they saw me log into the portal twice - April 20th and May 23rd. They said if I had a receipt showing my purchase, they could investigate further.
Last night I uploaded a PDF copy of my order confirmation, which showed the order date and time as 7:05pm on 4/20/15.
This morning I received a message from Chase, telling me that since there was a discount on the order (Home Depot had the item on sale), the UR Points bonus would not apply.
Once again, they got to me before I had my first sip of coffee. I logged into the Shop through Chase portal, and grabbed the terms and conditions from Home Depot's click-though page, and sent it off to Chase:
I did not use a discount code or coupon to obtain the item discount. The item in question was on sale, for 15% off. In fact, it's still on sale, now for 25% off:

I don't see anything in Home Depot's Shop Through Chase terms and conditions about losing cash back bonuses because you purchased something on sale. It does mention forfeiture of the cash back bonus if you use a coupon or discount code, but again, I did neither.
I'm disappointed that it's been such a hassle using the Shop Through Chase portal, and question whether I will bother to use it in the future. It should not be this difficult to obtain the rewards Chase is more than happy to advertise.
A few minutes ago, I just got another reply from Chase:
Dear DeeBee78,
Thank you for contacting Chase about a previous Shop
through Chase purchase on your Freedom Ultimate rewards
account ending in 15.
As a one-time exception, we have added 1,222 bonus reward
points to your account as a one-time exception. These
reward points are available immediately. The tax portion
of the purchase does not qualify to earn Shop through
Chase bonus points.

Secure Message Center.
Honestly, what a hassle to get my darn points!
First of all, nice Bobby Fuller reference.
Secondly, I'm surprised you won. I figured it wouldn't get anywhere. I had read your other thread. Congrats but it shouldn't be that difficult! If you think about it, you really had to earn those points twice.
I haven't used the portal yet. Just requested an ACH credit to my account. I know, not the smartest use of it, but I used my bonus to reimburse me for running my CC for my auto payment. lol

Here's the best part. I just called Home Depot and got a nice girl on the phone who agreed to refund me 10% of my purchase because the item is on sale more than it was previously. I'll lose 40-something UR Points, but I'll get $45-ish back from Home Depot
I'm going to use it to buy the small side table that goes with the patio set I originally purchased! I'm certainly not going through the portal again
Great job!
I'm tempted to use it for when I need to book travel. Extra points/redemption sounds nice. Maybe it will be good practice for when I get a CSP one day. lol
I hate the term "one-time courtesy". I've only had one instance where a bank courteously acted on my behalf, when I booked a ticket through BoA Travel Center which I had to cancel later in the night. Other times, I've clearly followed rules set forth by your bank and backed by your representatives. It's not a courtesy to grant me points that I earned by following the rules your colleagues told me I needed to follow, that your companies terms and conditions outlined. Stop acting condescending and holier than thou.
I'm sorry, I'm still pissed about a chat representative from BoA. I contacted EO, got everything resolved, and complained about that smug lady. Hope she gets a stern warning after they read our contact.

I hate the term as well. It's basically them telling you tha it's your fault you got hurt, but we're going to put a band-aid on your booboo, so you think we made it better.

I agree about hating the term. Citi did the same when they finally refunded the full AF (rather than 11/12) on the old Premier. Before doing the conversion, three reps assured me there would be no problem, but then Citi procedures meant that the PC couldn't be effective until a month after the AF was due, and they wanted to charge me for that month. Small amount of money but I was annoyed, and then being told it was a one-time courtesy! Maybe I will offer to pay my bill as a one-time courtesy....
In general, I drink the Chase Kool-Aid, but their UR site has way too many conditions for me to keep track of. I've used it a few times and was denied rewards for similar circumstances. I've never had this problem with Discover so I am done with Chase's mall [and Barclay's for that matter].
Barclay has a mall?
