Re: I need willpower

Costco a week and a half ago. Plus there was the app for joining PSECU, but I didn't try for a CC, so I'm not counting that one.

Before that was April 2010, but that wasn't an app; that was accepting an offer. Before that, it was accepting a line of credit from Penfed in May 2009, ditto on not being an app. Everything else was in 2008 or prior.

For all you (other) gardeners out there, there's a point to gardening, you know. It doesn't mean that you never get to go hunting again. It means that when you're ready, you can pick and choose what you want, instead of hoping and then meekly accepting what's offered. Smiley Wink

It can be done, you know! Smiley Very Happy

Re: I need willpower! Or the App Addicts thread.

I thought I should join this thread because I am dangerously stepping into AA territory and I need to jump on the AA wagon

No more app'ing until Sep 2011 (New car loan) is my goal, and certainly no more CCs for a long... long time

Since I first had a credit file (or a SSN for that matter)  in 8/2009, I acquired 7 bank cards and 4 store cards and 1 car loan

CU CC ($2500) and car loan in 8/2009

Discover More 11/2009 ($850)

Macys 2/2010 ($600)

Best buy HSBC store card 4/2010 ($600)

Dell 5/2010 ($1500)

Amazon store card 5/2010 ($3625)

CITI Forward 9/2010 ($1100)

BOA Visa Platinum 9/2010 ($2500)

AMEX Gold Delta Skymiles 10/2010 ($6000, backdated to 10/2008 when I was AU on someone else's AMEX before I even had a SSN)

and regretfully

CITI Simplicity 1/2011 ($1200)

Chase Slate 1/2011 ($4000)

As you can see I wound up with some low limit high APR cards. I might start closing some like the BB tier 2 HSBC which will never grow or Discover which won't give me a CLI. I even stopped getting First Premier offers in the mail. If I survive without AA I vow not to apply for anything again unless I absolutely need it.

Re: I need willpower! Or the App Addicts thread.

My last app was in December for a BOA Accelerated Cash Rewards Amex. Before that it was in November for an Amex Zync. Other than those, I got the PayPal MC in March 2010  and a Barclays B&N MC in 2009. Both cards were to rebuild.

I did the Zync for the backdating (helped my score), and I did the BOA because I wanted a decent cashback card on all purchases with no cap. I am now done!

There's no card out there that I want other than a Bloomie's, or maybe Saks- but that's going to have to wait.

Noooooooooo! Smug! Lol.

I'm still holding strong. No apps this year thus far! And more importantly, no real desire to app for anything. Smiley Wink
