If I don’t pre-qualify, does that mean I probably won’t get it?

If I don’t qualify for there preapproval, does that mean I probably wont get it? My score is 681 EQ, and I recently had one collection fall off my account in EX and TU. My issue is utilization, last month I was at 88% , but this month im at 39%. I would like to apply for another card to transfer my balance, but I cant pass the pre-qualification. Does this mean I will probably not be accepted?....also, how how often do these companys update there profile and add there preapprovals?

100% payment history

Utilization 39%, but one account wont report until mid-month.

1 collections account (2008 T-Mobile.)

Inquiries 5-6 on each CR.

If you don't prequalify that doesn't necessarily mean you won't get the card. I didn't prequal on anything at American Express and I apped anyways. Got approved for the BCE And Gold card without issue.

I would definitley wait to get your utiliization down to help boslter your credit score and give you the optimal chances of getting approved.

Re: If I don’t pre-qualify, does that mean I probably won’t get it?

If you don't get a preapproval, that doesn't mean you mean you won't be approved.  In fact, many people get approved with a good APR and starting CL without a preapproval.  When was your last account opened and when was your last HP?  I would focus on getting your util between 1 to 9% and let it report.  That will certainly boost your scores.  When I went from 66% to 27%, my score jumped 25 points overnight.  That said, if your EQ is in order and you haven't had alot of HP's recently or new accounts, I think you would be a good candidate for a Discover IT card.  I think you might be able to get a Chase Freedom or Slate, as well. I'm not sure about Citi.

FWIW, when I was denied a Citi card in the past, they pulled EX and EQ.  When i got approved for my Discover card, they pulled EQ and TU.  I hope that helps in some way.

I tried chase pre qual link for both my recent cards.. freedom in nid december.. ( which was my first cc in years ) and my CSP in early Feb.. Freedom was instant approval and CSP needed identifty verification before approval.. but had no pre approved offers when i pulled the trigger on them..

When a boy finds a girl, accross the room, very attractiive and yet that girst doesn't come all the way over to him to meet him, what does it mean?

I didn't get any pre-qualifications and was still approved with Chase & Discover. The tools aren't doing a soft-pull of your credit. They just have a database of opted in folks who might fit their profile and it checks to see if you're in it, that's all.

Yes, that's an analogy I guess.   A good/helpful analogy?  Not so sure!  Could just not see the boy (as in hasn't shown up in a recent preapproval run) or sees but dislikes (excluded from preapproval because of baddies) and that distinction is quite important for the OP.
