Re: Inquires

it depends on the lender.

some lenders are concerned with all inquiries within the past 24 months, and ESPECIALLY concerned with inquiries in the past 12 months.

While inquiries that are 12-24 months old won't affect fico scoring, some lenders take it into consideration as well. However if you want to scale it in terms of importance, inquiries within past 12 months are still weighted the most heavily.

Re: Inquires

I would recommend she gets the freedom and waits at least six months to either get the next one and than other 6 months for the last one, or at least get the freedom now and maybe try for both at six months if her scores are good

Re: Inquires

If she currently has no credit cards, I would wait a year. If she already has a card, the approach stated above can be used.

Re: Inquires

When I applied for Chase CSP , I had 7 inquiries before that and the CSP was my 8th. I did not get approved instantly and was given a 30 day message. I called and the whole thing was pending and they couldn't do anything. A week later they just verified my info to make sure it's me, and I got approved.

Then, a week later after I got my CSP, I decided to push my luck and apply for the freedom, and was approved instantly. That was my 9th inquiry.

For me I am guessing the inquiries didn't matter as much since I have a checking account with chase for >3 years and Chase amazon visa for almost 2 years.

Some lenders are more forgiving if the inquiries are due to mortage / auto loans as well. You can check to see if you're pre-approved for any Chase cards right now as well. It is really hard for me to tell you, but you could always apply, and if required, call Chase recon. They have a good recon department that is easy to work with.
