This about sums it up. If you do not carry a balance then the APR doesn't matter. If you do carry a balance then you probably shouldn't be using reward cards anyway and should look for 0% apr cards.

In my opinion that Chase Amazon Visa is complete garbage. The Amazon Store Card that can be upgraded into an Amazon Prime Store Card has way better benefits overall. I am glad Chase turned me down for the Amazon Visa a long time ago and instead I got a chance to get the Store Card. You get 5% back and you get 6/12 months 0% apr on purchases and then there's also 12/24 months 0% apr on select amazon items.
If they did approve me for the Visa I would have probably sock drawered it and used it every 3 months or so just to keep it active. I believe the raising of the APR falls in line that the Store Card from Synchrony is kicking their butts hard. Since it's Synchrony... I'm hoping that eventually it'll be upgradeable into a MasterCard. We'll see. I'm unsure what kind of contract Chase and Amazon have right now but it looks like it'd be in Amazon's best interest to just dump them.
I like the Chase Amazon Rewards for the 2% on groceries and gas... it's the best card I've been able to get thus far, re. rewards. (Except for the 5% rotating categories with Discover). I got approved for a Synchrony/ Amazon Prime earlier this month, so I don't even really anticipate using my Chase Amazon at Amazon anymore. I might try to PC it for a Freedom at some point (though based on what I'm reading, I should not get my hopes up).

Sorry MyFico peeps. Cant beleive I made such a crucial error when starting this post. I normally have a lot more common sense then this.
My only defense is that I just came off a 14 hour shift when I read the brochure I received, I thought I was reading it clearly and wasn't.
In the future I'll try not to make this kind of mistake again.
What's bad is now that I know the real story, none of it makes a difference. I've never been late or taken any cash advance off one of my cards. So none of it applies to me. Ooooppppsss
No worries OP. It's all good. I'm assuming you contacted Chase and they clarified the impacts to your APR were those that elim had pointed out further upthread, correct? If so, this is good news, you can keep/use the card as normal and it's simply business as usual.
Thanks OP for the update. I'm glad it was a false alarm. ![]()
