Re: Is MasterCard becoming obsolete?

I am kind of bummed out tha the CSP is going away from MC.  The entire reason I got the CSP was to get the MC Version and use at Sam's Club.

Not to mention the chrome MC logo is sweet.

Respectively I only have one other MC and is the Citi Diamond Prefered.

I guess it is getting about time to shop for another MC.

Any suggestions on a high limit MC ? WMC ? or WEMC ?

Thanks

J

Re: Is MasterCard becoming obsolete?

I know the citithank you cards are slowly moving away from MC, other than the prestige.

I was lucky to have gotten a mail invitation for the Citi Thankyou Preferred World Mastercard.

Re: Is MasterCard becoming obsolete?

Visa is in first place with MC running a close second.  Visa happens to be more widely issued in the US, while MC is more widely issued on other parts of the world.  I think Europe still is more MC friendly due to their takeover of EuroCard many years back.  I do find it odd in the US when there is a place that only takes one or the other.  I actually thought there was no difference due to the agreement that MC and Visa have to share processing, however there could still be exceptions to it.  In Canada I did notice there were definite divides in some places where they did accept one and not the other.  I actually went to a bank there once to get a cash advance and was refused because they didn't take MC, only Visa.  (I was trying to avoid the ATM surcharge and international transaction fees.  I was using a debit card, not a credit credit card.  It was a trick I learned.  No ATM fees for doing a cash advance.  Now it is almost impossible to do a cash advance on a debit card to avoid the fee, the banks got wise to thrifty people like myself!)

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.
