Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

Hello everyone new here, I've read many posts on the site here and figured it's time to join up and ask some questions and hopefully learn some other new things.

So like a year and half ago I'd say, can't remember the timeline I got my amazon store card and it started at like 2k, and I was getting automatic increases which were nice and it bumped to 6k pretty quickly.. I at one point made a purchase and had 4k of that used up. Well I was planning my attack to lay some huge payments on it, but they one day lowered my credit line within like 100 bucks of where It was used. I called and they said it was due to the utilization.

I then made not long after a 4,000 payment on it. And it hung there for awhile, I put eventually another grand on it, and then paid it down to like 200 bucks. And it has been that way for a bit now.

Anyways I've been repairing my credit over the years, last year got a new discover, citibank, chase and amex card... And yet synchrony just won't budge anymore.

I would eventually either like an Amazon visa or I'll just use my other good cards like my discover or amex for Amazon shopping... But still the principle of simply having a higher credit line is nice to build on.

Is Synchrony just difficult like this? I've made some huge strides in getting my credit back in good shape and they just beat my credit line down even after huge payments and nothing. Would love if someone has some similar experience perhaps.

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

I've heard of Synch lines recovering, but I've never experienced it.

Amazon Visa is offered by Chase Bank, not Synch.

If you've had enough of Synch, you might want to apply for the Visa version through Chase.

(DW and I both had a few Synch account credit lines reduced... no recovery yet....)

No idea but we have seen they dont like to see repeated high uti on some of their cards. I like to see Sync cards as a pif card sort of like Amex charge cards. This will allow you to not be at their mercy if carrying high balance even if for a month or two. When you pif, if they hit you with a cld or a blue envelope, you have mych more control where you can just clise your card and move on . Thats how i treat my Sync cardsSmiley Wink

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

Oh I know the amazon visa is chase, I just meant that yea I eventually would love to switch over to that and tell Synchrony to shove off.

So it's like once they cut you down it rarely comes back? That really sucks overall because I was only at 4k out of 6k used up and they did it like 2 months before I was able to hammer it, which is just so annoying in general.. I could see if that 4k balance sat there for a year.

See I'm repairing and I have made strides in getting back in the good graces of credit but Im paranoid of every little thing now. I'm just learning also about how chase works with their 5 rule thing and so I'm thinking since I last year opened a discover, citi, amex and chase card that they'd probably decline me.

What's weird is I'm at the best spot my credit has been in years, low util, decent amount of credit, not a single payment missed, and man it seems I'm in a weird spot where I just can't get a nice cli anywhere on my cards.

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

I had 110% utilization on my amazon store card for almost a year. I always had it maxed (2k limit). I was never lowered and every CLI I asked for was approved.

I guess I thought them seeing huge payments would make them realize ok this guy will take care of the bill, but I guess I was wrong.

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

With my synch Amazon store card, i went from SL 2700 to 4k @10months.  2 weeks later asked again and went to $10k

I think i put $900 on when i first got it and PIF or over maybe 2-3 months, cant rembemer, but it was sock drawed pretty much since i got it.

But at the same time I applied and approved for the Chase Amazon Prime VISA at a measely $500

other then maybe $20, i dont use it. at 10+ months not a single auto CLI (at not going to use HP for one!)

So it seems like just the lottery, you either get lucky or you dont.

Chase doesnt seem to like me, but Synch does?

besides the $10k in the Amazon store, I have lowes, walmart MC and BP visa for a combined $48k

Chase freedom and Chase amazon total= $7100 Smiley Sad

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

Credit in itself is simply one of the most annoying things on the planet to me because the way it varies person to person is insane. It just sucks because I was so pumped when I was getting auto CLIs with it very quickly then all of the sudden they just drop it because they said my overall credit utilization was high, which it was at like 80% at the time. But when they did that I had everything paid down to about 20% util about a month or so after. Sucks they don't seem to care or see that.

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

My Sync Amazon card was my first Sync card

For a while it was my most used

It was also the only one of my three sync accounts to...

1.  Not get a CLI when I asked for it

2.  Require me to do identity verification three times  (my three credit reports all list my name differently, as i have a roman numeral suffix IV, so one says 4, one says IV, one doesnt list it, so sometimes i have to verify who the hell i am because of it)

3.  Not give me a justifiable reason for not giving me the CLI, its always "insufficient experience at current credit line"

4.  Continuously email spam me about how im not using all of my available credit, and that I am not signing up for all my prime membership stuff, and that I can get X amount off by doing this that or whatever.  Spam spam spam.

Really fool?  Thats why you took me from 200 to 2000 on BP before it even cut its second statement (10x CLI), and 500 to 3500 on Walmart on its third (7x CLI)?

600 SL, eight months later still 600 (0xCLI)

Fricken lol.

Re: Is Synchrony notoriously difficult with amazon store card CLIs?

Yea that's the irony there, in the same time period I got declined for my cli on Amazon I then went and turned my 1500 Walmart into 3500 instantly.

They seem to have zero consistency
