Is Walmart Still Upgrading Store Cards?

I was just curious if Walmart is still upgrading store cards since they changed over to MasterCard?  Thanks!

Not really worth waiting for, If you want it, I'd just apply for it.

Not worth the new TL imo. There are so many other surperior 1%+ cashback cards out there

Exactly why I cancelled my Walmart card last week... didn't shop there and the MC wasn't worth the wait.  $300 in CLI in a year was enough for me to tell them to take a hike...

Unless you can't get a Discover or Barclays and need a free FICO, I wouldn't waste my time either. My Sams Club card can be used at Walmart anyway and the MC version of the card has much better rewards IMO.

Tradelines: Macy’s - $18k, Penfed Power Cash Rewards - $10k, Ethan Allen (TD Bank) - $5.7k, Kay Jewelers - $5.5k, Appliances Connection - $5.3k, Jared - $5.25k, Best Buy (Citi) - $5k, Dell Preferred Account - $3.5k, Samsung - $3.2k, Firestone CFNA - $3.2k, Capital One Platinum - $3k, Mercury MC - $2.25k, Williams Sonoma - $2.1k, Wayfair (Fortiva) - $2k, Amazon Store Card - $1.8k, Apple Card - $1.7k, NFCU cashRewards - $1.5k, CareCredit - $1.5k, B&H Photo - $1.5k, Adorama - $1.25k, Ebay MC - $1k, Sam’s Club MC - $1k, American Eagle - $1k, Ollo MC - $600, Mission Lane Visa - $500, NY & Company - $500, Walgreens - $500, Home Depot - $500, Target RED Card - $500, CapOne Secured MC 0 AF - $500, Penfed Overdraft LOC - $500

Current FICOS: Mid 640s-50s on all reports, Ch 7 BK D/C Aug 2019
Starting scores: EX - 534, EQ - 574, TU - 516 | Total TLs: $91k approx | Total Utilization: 17%, getting this back down

Re: Is Walmart Still Upgrading Store Cards?

Even if they offer you the upgrade you will still be dinged with a new account when it reports.  Instead of handling it as though its a product change they treat it just like a new account.  If you want it I suppose you may as well apply. Unfortunately you will be running the risk of being approved for another store card. Either way its still a walmart card, the added rewards are unimpressive, to say the least.

Re: Is Walmart Still Upgrading Store Cards?

does the MC report as Bank or Retail?

either way, my problem seems to be "new accounts reporting" so i may just keep the store card even if i do get the offer.

Store walmart reports

SYNCB/WAL-MART #XXXXXXXXXXXX****
PO BOX 965024
ORLANDO, FL 32896-5024
(877) 294-7880

Vs. mastercard

SYNCB/WALMART DUAL CARD #XXXXXXXXXXXX****
P O BOX 965024
ORLANDO, FL 32896-5024
(866) 611-1148

Either way it mostly just reads as a Walmart card.
