I had 2 personal and 2 business cards with Amex. I recently applied for CashMagnet, Hilton, and a Gold charge card and to my surprise all of them got approved. I say surprise because I was always under the impression that Amex only allowes 2 personal and 2 business cards.
Another thing that surprised me was that they didn't pull any of my reports. I looked at my softs on Experian and noticed they had pulled a few weeks prior. That's it, just a soft pull which I assume is similar to other banks that SP periodically. But since then I notice they're soft pulling my Experian almost every day. Is it becuase they think I'm high risk? I also opened up some other cards with other banks. have total 5 hard inquires on EX. My new Amex cards are 20k+ limits. Peferct credit, member since early 2000s.
Or could it be that I've been loging into my account everyday recenlty? Some sort of credit monitoring they offer that pulls my checks my credit?
Normal or not.... it's certainly the case.
Hi OP and welcome
Congrats on all of the recent approvals.
And, yep, they're keeping tabs. IMO, they want to be ahead of the game--thwart any behavior that could possibly become a risk.
Yes depending on person they will SP the heck out of you especially if agressive on credit seeking and other factors. Heck I am around 800ish on Experian and I am pulled about every 4-5 days it seems from them and have very low debt and higher income and higer scores. I do have 5 cards with them if they are pulling for each account I have no clue, but not out of the normal by any means
@obscure-expert can I ask where you got that report from? I can't seem to figure out how to see soft pulls on Ex and TU like the old days. On Experian I can only see them if I go to dispute center and even that doesn't show all the soft pulls, it just shows the most recent on from each company.

I think that's it, they are pulling for each account.

Side note.... trying to figure this sort of thing out is a waste of brain cycles.... as long as they aren't messing with your accounts it's a moot point. It stands out as a bit obsessive on their part but, it's a PC doing the scans of our profiles. It could be something benign like checking your own EX score through the amex website or some alert amex gets that someting minor has changed.
The account limit with Amex is 5 revolvers (personal or business) plus as many charge cards as you want.
Yes Amex SPs pretty often. They offer EX FICO scores through the website, so they pull at least often enough to provide that.
As for HPs... they hard pulled my EX in April 2016 when I got my first card with them in over 10 years. Since then I've apped (and been approved) 13 times with no new HPs.

My EX looks like this and I have not had an AMEX in 10 years. 3 different divisions of AMEX continues to pull me every week.

Wow! That's a lot...whew!
