The savorone is a great card that has no AF and covers dining/groceries as it's made with "foodies" in mind. It also has a decent SUB. It is missing your third category of gas however.

A couple other alternatives to look at are the Wells Fargo Autograph (3% on dining/gas, missing groceries), the Navy Federal More Rewards (if you qualify for NFCU, it hits gas/groceries/dining with 3% also with no AF), or even the Verizon Visa (if you use Verizon, this card gets 4% back on gas/groceries and 3% back on dining. Only thing is it's issued by Synchrony and the csdh back has to be used as a statement credit towards your phone bill). Hope those suggestions help!

I appreciate all of the options and information! I would say gas and dining are bigger expenses compared to groceries.

The NFCU card seems appealing. Would I need an account with them to qualify for the card?

You might want to consider the Comenity AAA Daily Advantage Visa, which gives 5% on groceries, and 3% on dining, gas/ev, and travel, or the AAA Travel Advantage, which gives 5% on gas/ev, and 3% on dining, groceries, and travel.

If you have family members who are military and they have an account with NFCU, they can add you as a member yes. It is free and pretty effortless to become a member, especially if they're current mil.

NFCU has extremely generous credit lines and good customer service as additional perks. The only potential issue about the NFCU More Rewards is that it's serviced by AMEX, which isn't accepted as many places as Visa/Mastercard. I haven't had many issues with places taking my AMEX now, but definitely did in the past.

I gotcha, I'll have to look into it. I'll do some more research into NFCU. Thank you for the help in pointing me in the right direction!

The AAA Travel Advantage sounds like it would be a good fit for me. How does it work with redemption? Can the cash back be used on statements?

Hello all!

I currently have the Discover It Chrome card and am looking to expand to a second card. Currently most of my spending goes towards dining, gas, and groceries.

I've been looking at the Capital One Savorone as an option. Would this be a good choice?

Looking for a no AF card. My current FICO8 scores are EX-729 EQU-730 TU-726

where are you getting groceries?

typically superstores or warehouse clubs aren't groceries for groceries categories on credit cards, so that's an important thing to keep in mind if your grocery spend is in those kinds of places (target, walmart, sam's club, costco etc.)

I second the redstone thing, apply for a savings account with them and just let it sit, they offer pretty solid pre-approvals (including their visa signature) after you've been with them for a few months

Re: Is this the right card?

The citi Shop Your Way card is 5% gas, 3% grocery/dining but that's 5% and 3% in points so you have to be ok with using your points for gift cards.  But the card often comes with frequent offers that can make the card even more rewarding, including a 10% statement credit on gas/groc/dine making it ~15/13% back in your three desired cats.  $225 intro bonus.

Everyday 5% CB:
Chase prime Visa // citi CUSTOM CASH “A” // citi CUSTOM CASH “B” // citi CUSTOM CASH “C” // citi ThankYou (5% gas, lucrative spending offers) // mylowe’s Rewards // Target circle card

Rotating 5% CB:
Chase “OG” freedom Visa // DISCOVER it Cash Back // nusenda CU Platinum Cash Rewards

Everyday 4% CB:
US Bank Smartly (v1.0)

Everyday 3% / 2.2% CB:
AOD FCU Visa Signature (3%, sockdrawered) // upgrade Cash Rewards Elite (2.2%, sockdrawered)

Welcome Offer / credits only:
NFCU FLAGSHIP REWARDS (elevated Welcome Offer, annual prime credit, sockdrawered)

Hotel card:
Chase IHG ONE REWARDS PREMIER (elevated Welcome Offer, 1 free night/yr)

On my radar:
Langely FCU Signature Cash Back (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // Safe CU Cash Back+ (Quarterly rotating 5% CB cats plus bonus cats) // upgrade MyFive Cash Rewards (5% CB monthly selectable cat) // US Bank Kroger (and family) World Elite Master Card(s) (5% CB Mobile Wallet)

Yes it can be redeemed as a statement credit.

This is not a cash back card. I know you love it, but I hate it, and closed it within a couple of months of opening.

It's a mix between a Pennsylvania/East coast grocery store, Trader Joe's, and Target.

I'll have to look at Redstone, they seem like a solid place to have an account with.

I think I would really prefer a card that I can always use my cash back/points on statement credit but that's not a deal breaker. I'll check Citi out
