JCPenny pre-qualified letter??????

Ok...i received a JCPenny pre-qualified offer in the mail on yesterday.  Is this an automatic approval or just an invite to apply?  I do have an Amazon Card through GE.  Any thoughts or anyone had this offer?  Any suggestions....

Thanks

Nope. They can still deny you.

It sounds like it's an invite to apply....not a guaranteed approval.

Re: JCPenny pre-qualified letter??????

When I received my JCP card, it was through a pre-approval offer letter that I had received in the mail.  At the time I had one other GE card.  A Walmart store card.

Does it have the opt out clause in the letter? either way theuy could still deny you but if they have the opt out clause means they got your info from a CRA

Re: JCPenny pre-qualified letter??????

I got one too. I don't shop there. I think the last time was 10+ years ago and all I bought was a wallet for $15. Of course it fell apart just like everything there. but that's a different story.

It's not a garaunteed approval. Just marketing.

Re: JCPenny pre-qualified letter??????

Hi

I had applied several times in the past few years for a JCP card, I like shopping there, and there is one close by. All of my online apps were denied. I walked into the store this past week, picked out some clothes for my daughter, the salesperson asked me if I wanted to apply, I said that they always reject me. I decided that since I had heard something in this forum that sometimes going into the store brought you better luck, I said sure, I would try it again. I was approved, got my temp card, and am looking foreward to my card growing with me. I also have several other GE issued cards.
