Hi,
I need help with jewelry financing. Scores as of today. EQ 610 TU 630 EX 609. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
NP, while we've been giving you broad based suggestions, it might help to know what cards you already have. Other factors, such as recent applications, your AAoA, and your oldest account, may also be helpful.
As far as unsolicited advice goes, I find myself between the two extremes of this post. If this is for an engagement ring, I can understand deficit financing, as long as the ring doesn't get too expensive (more than $2k would be my threshold). For other purposes, I'm in agreement with the more frugal members of the community. Giving an expensive piece of jewelry is a wonderful gesture, but financial problems tend to wreck havok on relationships. There is an inverse relationship between how expensive a wedding is and the length of the marriage that follows. That's not to say that you should cheap out, but find some moderate middle ground. I think the average wedding these days runs north of $20k, and in certain areas, like NYC, it is higher than $50k. This is just meant as food for thought. I'm sure the other, less positive comments were meant in a way that was meant to help you, even if it didn't necessarily come off that way.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you. To repeat what I said above, a little more information would be helpful in giving you better answers.

People might laugh but how about costco? You can pay $100 for premium membership and get 2% cashback. And you can use any no credit card you want (chase slate etc) to buy a costco cash card on their website and then use that in store to buy your jewelry. Or just buy the jewelry online with cc directly.
If it is a diamond ring you are looking for, costco is notorious for their underpriced diamonds. Limited selection though
I think its $110 for the executive membership these days. The $55 increase requires that you spend $2750 to break even. I'll second that you can find some nice jewelry there at good prices, though!
Costco has great wedding rings. Much better quality than you can get for the same price anywhere else IMO. And if you can get the Costco AMEX it has 6 months 0% purchases usually.

NP, take a look at the AMEX Everyday card. 10k bonus points on signup, 15 months at 0% APR, plus you get in with AMEX for the purposes of backdating and you can use the 3x CLI to increase your CL/decrease your utility. And, since its an AMEX card, it works Costco!
