If i will do that, i will ruin my history, bcoz it is only 1 card that i have now (7 month). I hope they will convert it to somethings more usefull in future.
Okay yes, that card will report for 10 years after closing BUT WHY would you close it?
BofA is a conservative bank so yes, they asked for a deposit on a secured card, but that card UNSECURES and then you get the deposit back and have a good card! You've had it for 7 months, usually at 12 months it unsecures. Why would you dump it so soon?
That card isn't perfect but it's how I started out, and that card is now at $5400 for me (It would be a lot more but I quit asking for credit line increases)
Plus I get a free FICO score with the card so I'm happy.
That card led to my other cards and now I have a small but decent set of cards and a great credit score.
But do what you feel you need to do
Hello guys! Small update, i just was approved to Discover It with CL 1250$
So what we have now:
1) Unsecured BofA CL 1000$, AF 39$, no rewards (cannot really rid bcz it is all my credit history, will try convert maybe in future to something usefull)
2) Discover It CL 1250$
What i am thinking to get and stop:
1) Costco with Citi
2) Amex
3) I also have bussines account in BofA and they have good bussines card:
PS before applying to DIscover my FICO TU from BofA was 734

3) I also have bussines account in BofA and they have good bussines card:
- Earn 1% cash back on purchases, 2% on purchases at restaurants, and 3% on purchases at gas stations and office supply stores (up to $250,000 annually, 1% after that)
- Get a $200 statement credit when you spend $500 within 60 days of your account opening
- No AF

I think it will be harder to get a BOA business card than an Amex business card.
I recommend the Amex Simply Cash.
I've also been very happy with my Cap One Spark card but (a) Cap One usually pulls 2 or 3 bureaus, and (b) it reports on your personal credit as well as your business credit (for me that was an advantage, but most people consider it a disadvantage).

No, the history will stay there for 10 years.
That's a good point if OP really wants to close his/her secured card, but getting other card(s) and waiting a bit before closing that one might be a good idea. History staying for 10 years notwithstanding, having no cards open (or having just 1 card with a one-month history open) just feels like a bad idea to me.
+1
Tried apply to costco and Amex simplycash result - denial.
Unsuccessful recon costco. Looks like not enough history.
I guess i will take pause.
Thanks everyone for help.
Hi guys! It is almost 7 months since i was here. And i am looking which card can be next.
My situation now: 742 TU, 719 Experian.
Cards:
BofA 1000 CL 39$ AF - my very first card
Discover It - 9200 CL
Amex BCE 30k CL (got 3x CLI) - still have 10% cash back for amazon!
So what i am thinking:
Citi Double cash - 2% cash why not?
Chase Freedom - to be more flexible with Discovery IT on categories?
Spark Cash for Business 59$ AF 2% cash back - still dont have business credit card
Travel card - i really dont want to go deeper into travel rewards, but i have feeling that i need to have one (maybe there is silver bullet on market)
So what you guys think, what is better for me?
PS dont want anymore citi costco, because of discovery 5% for costco cash card, especially during first year when they making match
