Just bought a Home - Need Lowes & Home Depot Credit.

746 Equifax data as of 7/10/201
709 TransUnion data as of 6/19/2016

708 Experian data as of 7/9/2016

Score was in the high 700's but buying a home has really knocked me down. I'm also disputing some inaccurate information on my report.
Credit utilization is ~3% across 3 credit cards. Total combined credit limit is around $9,000.

Anyways I close on a home next week. it doesn't come with a Fridge, microwave or washer/dryer.  I would like to sign up for one or both cards on the funded date. Does anyone see a problem with this?

Home Depot has the fridge I want, Lowes has the microwave/washer/dryer but not the fridge (Out of stock for a month)

I could theoretically put it on my current credit cards, but then I lose out on the 0% financing. I intend to set up autopay to pay off early.

I say if your profile supports it and you will use both, why not? At least for now Lowes really seems to grow exponentially. Home Depot can be good to but i would think you may use more hps for future increases on that one, in my experience anyway. Congrats on new home and best of luckSmiley Happy

If you're going for both expect to recon them for some decent limits.  Always ask for more and if they won't give you what you want, they will counter.  I got a low limit from Lowe's and asked for 25k and got it.  Also same with HD.  Got 600.0 and asked for more, they gave me 15k.  Never settle.  Smiley Wink

Congrats on the home! All of the points already made are good ones. I think both of them will suit your needs, or even just one of them will do well.

Re: Just bought a Home - Need Lowes & Home Depot Credit.

I planned on that. They'll probably give me a small balance to start with. But seeing as we NEED a fridge and it has to be the one the wife wants or there will be hell to pay I'll probably have to get both cards.

Re: Just bought a Home - Need Lowes & Home Depot Credit.

I just closed on my home 2 weeks ago and did the samething you're planning on doing. I app spree'd soon as funding was done. I went for the Lowe's card over Home Depot because I found their financing was a little better plus I got the 10% off movers coupon off my entire purchase. I did samething you are doing and had to buy appliances. Using the movers coupon I saved over $600 on all my appliances. Which was awesome!  Home Depot doesn't off the 10% off for moving.

If you have a Best Buy card and Lowe's doesn't carry the Fridge you want look at Best Buy and use their 0% financing offer on purchases. I think for something like a Fridge you'r get 18 mounths 0%.

When I applied for the Lowe's card I got approved for $700 i went into chat and told them I was doing a bigger project that would require me to have $15,000 and they approved me right there for the increased credit line.

Also if you don't take the finance offer from Lowe's when you do your purchase you opt to do the 5% off they offer just for using their card. I ended up using the card, the 10% off movers coupon and took the 5% off for using my card and paid everything off soon as it posted. I had thought about letting a balance sit but I just could not talk myself into it even with 0% financing.

Good Luck and Congrats on your new home!!

Re: Just bought a Home - Need Lowes & Home Depot Credit.

Yeah I'm also considering the Costco card since I shop there and they carry it as well.

Only problem is will they accept me with a prior bankruptcy (2010).  I know that amex automatically denied me two years ago because the bankruptcy shows on my credit report. Guess we'll see.
