I was just approved online for a Macy's Store Card, but I can't seem to find out what my CLI is. Can someone who has done this before let me know where I can look this up? Do I need to wait and see what it is when I get my mail? I don't understand because they gave me a 10% off promo today and tomorrow, but how can I use it if I dont' know what my limit is??
Also, I've seen several posts here about people recommending others to get a Macy's card to get a good mix. Is it a big deal or not that it's just a Store Card or is it really better for it to be a Visa? I would have applied for that, but I just don't have the balls to apply in-person at the store and risk getitng denied. ;-)
The only way you'll ever find your Macy's CL is by calling their customer service number - if you know your account number (should be on the receipt they gave you when you opened the account instore, even if you don't have the card yet), just enter that when prompted by the automated system, and you'll hear your balance and remaining available credit. I think even if you don't have the account number, you can give them your SSN to access your account. One of the odd things about Macy's is that you can't find your credit line anywhere on their website, and they don't even print it on your monthly statements! I'm almost certain they can't tell you your CL in store, either!
As for the improved credit mix - you don't need the Visa for that, just the regular store card should work fine!

iltph, your best bet is probably to try some of the customer service numbers found on their website, and to see if they can find you via SSN and give you info on your CL
fevmlo's right, though, in that one of the most exasperating things about their online acct. access (once you get your card and get it set up) is that they don't list your CL anywhere.
Edited to add: Oops - I'm not awake yet - forgot the second half of your post! On the mix question, it's the store card folks here often recommend for that.
Hope this helps.
It's ridiculous in this day that you have to call Macy's to check your credit limit. It's not online either. I've complained to them about that. It's very user unfriendly.
I guess that's the tradeoff for the nice cli's, but still very annoying.

I wouldn't complaint about Macy's too much or too loud. They might just "fix" things!
+1

I found out my Macy's CL from TrueCredit, after the account posted...
And their online account summary page is PATHETIC! Macy's, come on!
