My daughter forwarded a message from Paypal/Sync informing her that her card can (finally) be added to Apple Pay. The message also included some account info, part of which was "Available cash back: $2080.XX" I said that I hope that wasn't her reward balance. She said she didn't think so, but would check. And, sure enough, it was!
I have always preached redeeming cashback rewards as soon as you get them, with a very limited number of exceptions (e.g. getting a Discover gift card that is a better deal for a higher value card). Obviously didn't take in the family. Now, I think/hope, the $2K+ is on the way to her bank.
Well congrats to her! I do hope this means you'll have a surprise gift soon!
I suppose the card gets a lot of use! Hopefully she didn't come to you right before and ask for a loan/gift of approx 2k

the double whammy of random account shutdowns, paypal AND synchrony
make sure that the $2k isn't now just sitting in a paypal balance
Yea unlike in europe where Paypal is treated like a bank and under banking regulations, I have 0 trust in paypal.
