I've been rebuilding. I have good scores but no recent credit, so I've been denied for a few cards.

I got a 7 day message while app'ing online for the Kroger card.

My card came!

WELL, they gave me a $4000.00 line, 0% for 6 months, and a coupon for $25.00 of free groceries!

After the apps I've made, I'm guessing in the upper 600's. I had 7 years of no credit at all, but a few old tradelines that looked good.

I've come to the conclusion that each issuer has widely divergent criteria. I mean, like from different planets!

HSBC also gave me a card, but only $2000.00.

Congratulations! I got my card back in Sept '09. It started with a CL of $4000. On Jan. 10th 2010, I called to ask for a CLI. My limit increased to $5300. Enjoy the cards and buy plenty of fruits and vegatables with your $25.00. LOL

I now have the two cards I felt I needed to rebuild.

I never, ever, could have done it without this board. I would have destroyed my score with hard hits..

Love Kroger!!!! I don't know if they still do it, but when DH activated his $8,000 card last summer, he called in for a higher CL, and they immediately upped him to $10,000. They said it was a soft, but it was a hard. We use this card a lot!

I agree, this board is the bee's-knees. We still had a few misses, but really nailed it because of these boards. (Personally, I would have given up after being turned down by Cap One. I figured if they wouldn't work with us, who would???? These boards taught me much, much better). And, of course, these boards enlightened us re: Kroger. And Alliant. And Cabela's. And my Macy's.

I app'd for this card last yr and was denied.I shop at this ~~shop at this~~ store mostly everyday. matter of fact, I shopped in there today and picked up a cc application,I'm scare to fill it out though...

If your credit improved since you last app'd, I wouldn't be afraid to fill out the online application. Why did Kroger decline you last year?

they just said i had some stuff on my tu report....yes my tu went up to 627. And this is the card i wanted real bad. I know i have called them to recon. and no was the answer the whole time...lol

That's me. I would have just given up. I figured that if one turned me down, they all would. The most important thing for a game newbee to know is that these people ALL have their own business model. I got turned down for the first 2 cards I app'ed for with a score of 739.

I also think that some of these issuers are using the sealed, archived reports that they can't legally use. They know if you're coming off baddies, even if they've fallen off, or been disputed and removed.
