Last Statement Balance on landing site

I appreciate when a credit card company displays information on their website front and center.  For example, Citi (DC) shows virtually everything I want to see on their main page and doesn't require me to go hunting for the information.  Notice how Citi includes last statement balance and statement closing date.  I like this about their website.

Compare this to Synchrony (PPMC).   They don't show either the statement balance or the statement closing date.  I know the information may be on their website someplace, but I don't like how I have to go digging for it.  Not showing statement balance seems like a not-so-subtle attempt to get me to pay interest.

What do you like and dislike about your credit card web sites?

Re: Last Statement Balance on landing site

Not even sure why I hate Sync websites so much but that is definately one of the reasons. Besides that, they tend to be ugly. Like AOL days ugly.

I do like Amex's app and landing page. Chase isn't bad either but I dislike leaving the website just to check what % of your rewards are being earned on specific purchases. I like Barclays just fine as well.

Re: Last Statement Balance on landing site

Depends on preference. I actually find it harder to find stuff on Citi's website (too archaic, older style, too much info/noisy). Sync's modern website actually is much simpler, in my opinion, and more modern (cleaner) (as opposed to comparing it to AOL).

In Sync, I can actually see my statement balances, in one or two clicks. In Citi, after 2+ clicks, I realize that I'm either in the wrong page, or it's just not there (spoiler alert: it's not there. you have to manually download your statements). Sync at least has this:

And this:

In Citi, can you guess where stuff are?

Yes, Citi's landing page contains those two pieces of info you need at first load, but in general, more things are hidden, and harder to find, in Citi's website, in my opinion.

That said, there are things missing in Sync's website. But I find it easier to navigate and find info on their site. Unless I am only looking for statement balance, then those extra clicks might mean a world of difference.

Personally, I maintain my own records. That way, I do not have to sign in to the lender's websites.

I also do redirects/bookmarks. Like in Amex, I always redirect to the offers site when I sign in.

Re: Last Statement Balance on landing site

@staticvoidmain Thanks for sharing your point of view.  I agree with you about Sync being the simpler and cleaner design.  I think I developed a bias towards Citi's website because I've been using Citi cards for a long time.  I just know where to find things, but that doesn't mean that it's a good design.
