Inconsiderate to whom exactly?
This is business. We do our best to gain the most advantage on the banks, and they do the same right back to us. They have done their best to get rid of any obstacles to amoral neoliberal capitalism. I say let's give it to them. They're being inconsiderate if they don't expect it.

Pooling points between the Freedom cards or one household member cards to your account is in no way abusing the system. I find that notion ridiculous. Chase created the UR system, the sign up and monthly bonuses and the ability to combine points. If they didn’t think people would intelligently pool them, then they are idiots. They may have decided that it’s too costly but there is nothing wrong for consumers to do so. In fact if you don’t then you’re the idiot.

Interesting. I'll find out myself for another datapoint when I transfer my GF's points to my CSR when I get back home.
Update: transfers went fine. No hiccups on my end over here.
Hmmm, I still get the ‘unexpected error’ message. Did you have to add your credit card number again to be able to transfer them or was it still there from previous transfers?

Had to add it again. It was there before to do the transfers but there was no "rush" persay til now so technically this is the first transfer done.

I didn’t see that coming. Well if I can’t transfer my ink+ to CSR, goodbye chase and hello Amex for all my personal and business spend. I dumped my SPG points and I’ll do the same with my UR points.
I did close my FU card and put that spend on my EDP card.
Citi nerfs and now chase pooling issue, Amex might be the last one standing. The tortis wins all the time.
You called?
Seriously, I hope, hope, hope this one doesn’t come true. Was pretty at peace with my Chase Quad. Glad I didn’t have DH app for an FU earlier this week when I heard about the 3% first year. Was planning to do that this weekend. Not now.
ETA: I successfully transferred from my F and Fu to my CSR and also from my Ink+ (different log in) to CSR as well. As others have said, I’ll just do it at each statement close now.
I was was trying NOT to spread my points out, trying to clear out MR and accumulate (on two different accounts: DH and mine which obviously can’t be pooled) and trying to amass UR. Now I’m thinking that as long as I will have to potentially rethink things I may go for an Altitude Reserve at least for a year. Love the 3x Apple Pay.
As a newcomer to Chase, I don't have enough experience with any of their point systems to say whetehr it will be good or bad. And while I cannot say that this move will cause me to close my account, it will weigh heavily on my thoughts on whether I app for any other products they offer. Namely the Freedom. Maybe when they first structured the ability to combine points, they never though it would be utilized as much.

Chase talking about eliminating the ability to pool your points to a single card isn't abusive, but it is still a way that Chase is ultimately looking to save money on the UR program. So you're right this isn't abusive, but it goes to contextualize what degree of expense would prompt Chase to nerf their program: this isn't even about people manipulating their system, it's simply people utilizing a nice perk of the system...turns out that perk is costing Chase a lot of money apparently.
Last year I believe Chase had the most profitable year in the history of banking. So when I hear about something costing Chase money I play the world's smallest violin just for Chase. Chase is not struggling. They are nickel and diming their customers, because its all greed driven.
