I've heard that Amex cards will let you have a set limit for just your AU. Anyone aware of any other cards that let you do that?
I have cards from NFCU, Cap One, Barclay, and Chase.
Thanks!
None of the ones you do have allow you do that as far as I know. I have all of them abpnd see no option to do that. I've only heard of Amex doing but there could be others out there.
I'm very curious on how this works if I do a 300 dollar spending limit is there a breakdown on my statement or if I just make a random payment it is replenished or is it as specific payment for that account number that they can go by? Because I see two ways to look at it $300 or $300 of use a statement are two different things
NFCU cards can set a limit on AUs. Its under "Additional Card Holders" -> "Manage Card Holders Limits" under the CC section of the website.

I don't know about a breakdown of the payments, but for Amex they do certainly list each cardholders spending seperately.
I think the limit for use resets itself each month.
I sort of wonder if Amex keeps track of what your AU does. If this is true, then my sister would definitely be able to get a card of her own from them. I opened a BCP card about 1 1/2 years ago and she has been the only one who has used it, so if they do, then they know her habits and probably the fact that she pays off the card. Amex seems pretty good at tracking everything about accounts! She even has permission to call about the account and has! Once she accidentally paid her corporate card instead of my card and she called them and took care of it. There was no issue at all. They didn't even say that there was no way for them to transfer the payment, like you might expect from another bank, they just simply transfered it.
The limit is per statement. My daughter is an AU on my Amex BCE. Even though she pays it off right away, her total spend per statement cannot exceed the limit.

Thanks! I called them today and the rep said I couldn't do it. I knew I'd find a way on these forums
Capital One allows you to set the max spend during a billing cycle also.
