Logix Credit Union....what EX score do they use?

I went into a Logix CU branch this morning to join, get a checking account, auto refi and maybe apply for a CC.

They pulled my EX report and my app was denied because of a fraud alert on EX. The banker told me they EX score they pulled was 618. My EX Fico here is 670.

I asked him if he new which version of EX they pull and he did not have a clue what I was talking about. I tried to explain to him about the different versions of Fico scores and he insisted the only scores were from EX, TU and EQ. It's amazing how little loan officers know about all the different Fico scoring models and are not even aware of which one the bank they work for uses.

Anyways they said they can't open my membership until I remove the fraud alert, which I thought was strange since I was there in person with my ID.

I'm wondering now how my score could be so much lower on whatever version of EX they are using. In light of the 618, I'm going to wait until my scores improve and perhaps I'll go back in a few months and look into a refi on my car loan.

Also wondering about the fraud alert. The fraud alert originated for a dispute of "not mine" weigh EQ back in June. It was supposed to be a 90 day alert. The alert has ended on TU and EQ but for some reason it's still up on EX. Can I call EX to get they alert removed or do I have to write a letter?

I was able to remove an initial alert via phone - once. That was awhile ago so I'm not sure if they still allow that method.

Re: Logix Credit Union....what EX score do they use?

The one you buy from MyFico is EX FICO 08 Classic.
The one Logix pulled on you was probably EX FICO 04 Classic.

It seems to be that the smaller banks/lenders are still using the 04 models while bigger ones are using 08. I looked up the revenues of the banks that pulled 04 on me and compared them to the revenues of the 08 ones. Cap1, US Bank are the only ones that pulled 04 on me while Chase, Amex, Citi, B of A, Barclay's all pulled a variation of the 08 scoring model (Classic or bankcard enhanced). Out of those 6 banks, the two with the lowest revenue in 2012 happened to be the ones still using the 04 model. I don't know of anyone still using the 98 model which MyFico is selling here for 20 dollars..

Based on personal experience, 04 Classic and 08 Classic can have significant difference. On my most recent app spree, I had an 04 score of 666 and an 08 score of 762 on the same day. (96 point difference)

I don't know much about fraud alerts so can't help you there...
