Hello, All....Chapter 7 was final 7/2021. Unfortunately I had an Amex Everyday card that was included (only a 500 limit). Today I called them & learned my outstanding balance at the time was only $386. I have worked hard this last year on re-building (thanks to much help from these forums). I was ready to pay in full but it turns out I have to mail in the payment. I was thinking wait a month or so & keep trying the pre-qualify tool. I have gone on to obtain some pretty decent cards (my credit union Visa 10,000 SL and Discover Miles (8000 SL). I'm satisfied with the mix of cards I have but ultimately I would like a hotel card & all of the hotels I prefer usually have an AMEX card. Can anyone share if they had a similar experience where they may have burned AMEX and worked their way back in? Or any advice would be great. Thank you!

I don't understand what you think you'd accomplish by waiting a month+ to pay the balance. As I see it, that certainly can't HELP your odds of getting back in. But maybe someone else knows something I don't know about this!
If it were me, I'd pay up right now, in full.
Then I'd wait a few months and start thinking about looking at their pre-qualification page.

Amex requires 5 yrs and 1 month from bk before you can apply with them. Longer if they were included. For that small amount, paying it off would be ideal to speed up the process after the 5 years are up.

No....I am paying right away. But mean I will take some time to wait for the payment to be received and processed THEN utilize the pre-qualify tool.

No you will still have to wait the 5 years and one month until you can apply as @Brian_Earl_Spilner stated .
Voluntarily repaying the entire debt can reduce the length of time that you will be on their blacklist but neither a voluntary repayment or a prequalification bypasses or overrides their 61 month policy. It is possible to be on AMEX' blacklist and be prequalified for 1 or more cards but if following up with an application the blacklisting will prevail.
Here is what I posted back on 6/26/21 after my BK7 with Amex. Now I have the Blue Cash Preferred and the Amex Gold and pretty happy to be back in after all of these years:
Finally back in with Amex after BK7 filing about 8 years ago. Approved for the Blue Cash Preferred for $15K CL.
Paid back an outstanding balance of $550 for the former Costco True Earnings Amex Card included in the BK7 from 2013. (Yes, I know I didnt have to pay them back, but I wanted to be a member again!!)
Sent the payment in on 6/19/21 and checked the pre-approval site today and low and behold; I had card offers showing!!!! Totally shocked it happened so fast!!!!
Tried every month on the preapproval site for the last 2 years and always declined due to a cancelled account.
So happy to be back and my membership now says "Member Since 1985" (36 years) woo hoo!!!!

Given that and based on AmEx rules as many have learned here, the earliest you'll even be able to apply and approved will be after 8/2026 as it is 5 years and 1 month after a BK before AmEx will consider you, as other have mentioned. It won't matter at all how many other credit cards you have received, what their SL's are or what your FICO scores are. That 61 months seems to be pretty much written in stone by AmEx. Even then there's no guarantee that you'll be off their Blacklist (it took me 19 years to get off of it and I didn't even file a BK against them or owe them any money when they closed my accounts) BUT going ahead and paying the amount you owed them IN FULL will certainly help with the Blacklist issue.
I am dealing with a similar issue. I filed CH7 02/2017. Burned AMEX for about $2000. You need to be 5 years 1 month clear before they will approve as well as pay them back in full. I mailed in full payment they will have you a reference number an address. About 15 days after the checks cleared I tried applying and they finally gave me a HP. App applications before that did not HP. Sadly came back denied for a different reason but I should have that all cleared up in the next few days and reapp.

Just as a contrary data point, although maybe my experience is an exception to a general rule, I got back in with a partial payment. Although I should note, they offered to settle for less and I agreed to that offer. Then it was some time, probably a couple years, before I saw a prequal. No BK in my case but was well clear of 5 years of default regardless.
Another data point, I got a new 2022 "member since" instead of whatever the original year was. Personally fine with that, do not want any further assocation with my financial past.
