Re: Luv Button? Citi

yes, it was Citi.  As far As BofA, I am not sure.  I got the BofA amex in March.   I am so tempted to click on the luv button but I am sure I will be declined since I have only had the account for 2 months.

Re: Luv Button? Citi

Yeah I did cli with BofA last week and got the form and was declined by mail...no hard pull. Had I known this before I would have not completed the form. Thank you BofA for no hard pull.Smiley Happy

Saedra,
Was this Citi?
And do you know if anyone eles like BofA, or Chase do the same thing?

Be careful here. There is a thread on FW. They are going crazy hitting the luv button numerous times. I smell AA on the horizon for the abusers of this possible glitch. From 3K to 25K hitting the button 10 times consecutively? Do this at your own risk.

Someone posted that when you're in your account, go to Manage My Account and then Credit Line Increase Request. If the form comes up with all the boxes at whatnot that you have to fill in, that's a hard. If it says submit or something basic like that, it's a soft, and you're probably already pre-approved.

In late August, 2007, Citi gave me an automatic credit line increase.  Since early this year, I've been checking my account regularly to see if Citi offers me a soft pull, CLI on the Manage My Account/Credit Line Increase Request page.  It finally appeared today!  I was given the choice of either accepting their offer, or declining it to request a more substantial CLI (I assume if I declined their initial offer, the page following would have involved a "form" and a hard inq) .  I accepted Citi's original, soft-pull offer.

It took about 8 months after my last CLI for Citi to offer me this increase.  I don't use this account very much.

Did they tell you how much, or do you have to wait for the new CL to post?

I asked for a CLI at activation w/ BofA but was denied.  I waited for about 35 days from the approval date and pressed the button.  I left the amt open, filled in the info, and got the "we'll get back with you later" message.  The next day when I logged in my limit went from 2k to 5k.  (I also got the card in March.)

Their original offer was for $1200, and I accepted.  Citi does inform you of the CLI amount before you accept/decline.

I was just so glad to see the page that so many forum members have written about!!!

EDIT:  Citi is willing to increase my credit line up to an additional $5600 if I take advantage of one of their balance transfer offers.  I would assume that this would also involve a hard inq.

Re: Luv Button? Citi

I haven't checked the Citi Manage My Account/Credit Line Increase Request page since my last CLI, on May 3rd.  I looked at it early this morning, and there was an offer for a $1000 credit line increase (soft pull).  I accepted.  That makes 2 soft pull CLIs in less than 2 months!

I'll have to start checking that page on a more regular basis.

Re: Luv Button? Citi

Citi = if you hit Luv and you get a form thats a HARD inq. If you get NO form thats a Soft inq

Chase =ALWAYS!! a hard Inq

BofA = Soft INQ, online

Amex = Soft INQ online

Penfed= within 90 days, same inq initially pulled. After 90 days all CLI = hard inq

HSBC = online luv button = Hard Inq unless auto CLI upon clicking

Juniper - dont even try to think they got a Luv button! ( well, now they do, but tread carefully!)

CapOne = Always a hard Inq unless auto CLI upon 3-6-9 months

"We regret that we cannot approve your request for a Credit Line Increase at this time. Your request was processed by the credit record we have on file, as well as a credit scoring system, which assigns a numerical value to various items on your credit card account(s). Your credit score did not meet our requirements, because:

Your balance is high on one or more of your accounts with us, compared to the total credit limit.

Your credit report indicates one or more of your account balances with other creditors is high, compared to the available credit."
