Re: Macy's Merging

Man, what a day to leave the Macy's card at home... I tried calling in with my soc but it kept redirecting me to a representative, and of course they're closed for another half hour. Figures that the ONE TIME EVER that I wanted info from San automated system, I can't get it, lol. Maybe cuz I'm not calling from home? No matter, I'll speak to a person soon enough Smiley Happy

When asking for card number. Hit 0#. Then put in social plus #. Plus zip code. Boom access to account.

Re: Macy's Merging

Taxi, I did go through those steps as you stated but the system wasn't having it for me, lol. No matter, I did get through to a rep and she confirmed the merger of all my store account types with total CL $20,700. Whee!!!

But here's the odd thing. I'm carrying my furniture and jewelry 0% promo balances, total of about $4900. My min pmt last month was $207 on a balance of $5300, but the rep said my new min pmt was only $99..? Is it possible that Macy's has changed the min pmt calculation method along with this line merger?

Congrats. Now that is really more in line with other lenders. Must have gotten a new consultant. Smiley Happy I only

have 6200 limit. Together with my Walmart being raised to 10k and jcrew to 10k. That's a 16k increase across he hoard just this month. Outstanding.  Looking for score increase when it reports.

Re: Macy's Merging

Called Macy's CS just to reconfirm my card closure and zero balance( yay and  super thrilled to have closed it).

Still have Bloomingdale's card (both are DSNB) and keeping that for now. Macy's CS stated that the 27th (tomorrow) was the go-live for both Macy's and Bloom credit card info on website -  does anyone have any additional updates? Thanks

Re: Macy's Merging

Yeah, I checked online before reading the thread to see if it was available there yet and still not, so I guess tomorrow will be the day it is.  I did, however call the automated system, and indeed the limits are combined.  I did the same things other did, but not to the same extent as some.  In June(?) I asked about a Special Event account and got one.  My limit on my revolving was kinda small, just $1500 (which was bad considering I only used the account twice in two years).  Yeah, I know some opened up every one of their specialty accounts if they were able to and also got an increase on their regular account, I just didn't really see the need to be tempted that much by Macy's, so I only went for the Special Events account.  I do applaud everyone for sharing the combination and the stratgey behind doing the multiple accounts, it did work.

So my new Macy's limit is $7300, still not bad for me and my Macy's needs.

(Interesting facts: Target used to be owned by Daytons, which merged with J. L. Hudsons, and then they bought Marshall Fields. They adopted the Marshall Fields name for all their stores, as Fields was viewed as a higher tier store, even though I think there were less locations than either Daytons or Hudsons.  Then they sold them to Mays, which was later bought by Federated. Finally, they changed their name from Dayton-Hudsons to Target.)

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.

Re: Macy's Merging

I just called to get my limits and balance, and tried with my ssn. Had to be transfered and the wait time is greater than 30 minutes. I will call back when I have my card in hand.
