There is no bonus for converting. You can transfer Marriott to SPG 3:1 or SPG to Marriott 1:3 now in increments of 1,000 or your points will be automatically converted 3:1 from SPG to Marriott on (or soon after) August 1st.

The current program is remaining the same as with SPG with two differences: you'll be able to transfer to every current airline that both Marriott and SPG offer plus some new ones, and the points will essentially triple. For example, right now you can transfer 20,000 Starpoints to 20,000 miles and get a 25% bonus for 25,000 miles. After the combination, it will be 60,000 points for the same 25,000 miles, but your old Starpoints are now worth 3 of the new rewards currency which won't have a name until next year, so I guess it'll be Marriott Rewards points until then.

Under the new program rules, earned Marriott points will convert to airlines at 3 points per one earned airline mile, with exceptions to a couple of airlines (JetBlue being one) that will have a different ratio.
Basically what was once a 1:1 with a 25% bonus after you move 25,000 points over, becomes a program where your points are less valuable.
Example:
25,000 earned Marriott/SPG points (earned at 2 ppd) will require $12,500 in spend. You will then earn 8,250 airline miles.
With the previous SPG program, you would have received 12,500 miles for $12,500 in spend.
On a larger scale...
$35,000 in spend would've gotten you 40,000 airline miles (old SPG program)... now... $35,000 in spend will get you 28,100 miles.
