Re: Capital One Is Watching--Pair of CLDs...

I was hit hard too.  Went from 35k to 10k yesterday.  I use this card regularly, always PIF and have over 800 FICO.  I charge approx. 25-30k a year on this card.

Over the years they have gone from Crapital One to Capital One and now they're back to Crapital One.  We are probably going to see more and more of this happening across major banks, like during the last major recession.

Thank goodness I have great relationships with several awesome credit unions.

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

It's exciting to get approved for cards and get CLI every so often, but there is always a chance of CLD when we only use 1-5% of the limit every year, especially around these unpredictable times.

Yeah--didn't come across that thread until after I posted. Seems that the CLD's are being referred to by some as "haircuts". LOL

Re: Capital One Is Watching--Pair of CLDs...

While a CLD is painful, I think the PC was a good move. For a 2% card, an annual fee really just makes sense IMO as the cost of getting a SUB.

Spend: BofA PR + WWFCR, BBP, Schwab Platinum, CFF+CF, Costco, Discover
Perks: IHG49, Hyatt75, Delta Platinum, "Old" SPG95
SD/AAoA Ballast: Arrival, CFU, DC
Upgrade/downgrade games: BCE, EDP
Mostly earning MRs and cash back as I use up hotel and airline points spread across several programs.

It's best to just keep emotion out of it as much as you can and realize that a huge unused limit is just a potential liability for the bank. Cutting that just mitigates their risk. It's easier said than done to just let it go, but honestly, just let it go. You weren't using the card anyway because you have better cards you prefer to use.

Re: CLD - Any Luck Restoring Cap 1 CL?

Cap1 just cut my 10k Savor to 5k based on use. Funny thing is I cut back on using most of my cards because of covid19.

It's fine really, this is the second time they cut this card, it used to be close to 20k.

It gets very little use lately because of Discover quarterly.

Oh well, better than them closing it I guess..

It's my first rebuild card from many years ago.

CU's FTW! Best 3 cards are AOD 3%, USAlliance 3%, and Alliant 2%.
It's sad when the Big Boys can't stack up against CU's!
250k+ CL and climbing.
