Long time reader, first time poster.
First, I believe I'm owed some serious 'grats on CSP (yesterday), Discover IT (yesterday), Barclay Arrival World (oct), Huntington Voice (oct), a CLI ($1,600 -> $6,600) on my oldest (7.5 yrs) card (oct), and an Overdraft Line of Credit with the CU at my work (oct). I also necromanced a Cap One card I had in college that I thought was closed. Still reports from 2007 even though I forgot about it for like 4 years!!!
I started getting serious about my credit score around July. (Much sooner, actually, but with some baddies and working out of a $6k overall limit for many many years I couldn't do much about it with a 620ish score from 2008-2012.
So, using this forum as my guide, I finally bought all my reports and took the time to dispute everything, AND got all of my accounts low enough to report <10% util in October, and I ended up with around a 720/730/750 TU/Exp/EQ. The results were fruitful (see paragraph 1). The November apps that got the CSP and discover looked more like 710/710/710. my overall credit limit went from ~ 5k to over 40k in just a couple months.
If you're looking for a new card, my experience with several apps can be extrapolated from the above information + the information in my siggy.
My goal: Take an $8k cash advance from my credit union @ 10.99%, invest it in the bullish market looking for 25-30% returns while interest rates are still low, and pay back my CU in biweekly chunks from my paycheck over the course of about a year. If you're thinking of giving me a speech about market risk, stop. This doubles as a way for me to put away money more easily as I tend to be better at paying down debt than I am at padding savings.
Essentially, like everyone else. I need as high a limit as possible so that $8000 utils the smallest possible total amount of my total credit. for less than 10%, I'll need $8k/.1 = $80,000.
How do I get there? I know I need to garden for a while after all the new accounts and HPs, but I wonder about each card individually.
Discover gave me **bleep** terms and a **bleep** limit... when I ask for a CLI in 3 months, do I call? Is it even worth it to keep the card with a $1k limit that I just got yesterday?
Should I request a CLI on my freedom within a day of applying for the sapphire? Should I apply for the Slate right now? Can I roll my CSP into the Freedom, and then apply for another CSP in 3 months or a year?
What about the Cap One? it's at $750, I just need to wait to make 3 monthly payments (since the necromancy) before I can request a CLI. Do I call, or do it online? Is it an HP? If I know my garden is growing quickly, should I be prudent and wait 4 or 5 months?
Thanks for the consultation,
