These cards have fees, so while you still make a profit, the additional flexibilty comes at a small cost.   If the grocery store has gift cards that you know you can use, you do better getting them.

Don't the fees from visa gc or whatever almost counteractt the 5x you are getting, last time i checked those fees were 6.95 or something to that effect. For me if i wanted to max out my 5x freedom i would probably buy amazon gc since i know i buy an crap ton of stuff on amazon.

I know this varies from person to person, but for me an Amazon or eBay gift card is practically the same as cash.

Usually warehouse and/or discount merchants are excluded, but this time Chase also added warehouse clubs. (Sams, BJs, and rumor has it  costco.com (online only))

If you shop there a lot, then do you have the Amazon store card w/ Prime?  If so, you're going to get 5% either way so you might as well just stay home rather than buy the gift cards.

Acme, Safeway, and a few other chains are part of Albertsons. Albertsons recently acquired Haggens.

Not really counteract.   You can get $500 Visa/MC gift cards for $5.95, so you lose just over 1% of the 5%

Amazon prime fresh counts as grocery (I double checked on my statement and got the 5x points). It also gives you a lot of options to buy other things besides grocery (access to over 500K of amazon's merchandise is literally what is says on the prime fresh website). If you are a prime fresh member or if they deliver in your area it's worth it. If not a member, they let you do a 30-day free trial. But again they would have to deliver in your area.
