Could it be that he charged something at some place that was labeled as a cash advance? If you charged your card in a casino or at establishments located within a casino, sometimes that can happen.
Or an overseas transaction? This can happen sometimes when doing shopping online or when booking international flights / hotels.
Yes he had to take a cash advance to activate the card at a bank because there was a security issue, but they already charged him $10 for it which he paid. So do you think this is an additional apr charge for cash advances? Thats what I was figuring too.

If not, then definitely call Barclay and ask them. On a side note, I have only called Barclay once, but they had great customer service!!!

Yeah thats what I told him to do, but I figured I would try the Fico gurus first
I mean 2.00 is no big deal but we just hate to see it since it was paid in full. LIke having a 0 balance lol
Yes we still have the paperwork, but I am guilty to say we didnt read ALL the fine print, he is on the phone with them now. Will keep you guys posted, that would suck though to have a monthly fee but it is what it is.
Hey, don't beat yourself up over it. If it ends up being a $2 monthly charge, that is better than it might be. Before I knew better I was paying probably $500 in annual fees on my cards (Credit One, Capital One, HSBC, etc).
If $24 annual fee helps you build your credit, I guess that is a small price to pay, right?
AFAIK, Barclays doesn't have any type of "monthly fee" product. They have AF products, but none that are like FP or CO.
Oh ok, thats good to know!

Yes, there is the cash advance fee and the finance charge associated with the cash advance (since there is no grace period for those, regardless of when it was PIF).

My guess is that its most likely interest fees due to the cash advance then. Call CSR to find out just to make sure.
Yeah thats what I told him, luckily it was only 2.00 but still wont be doing that again unless absolutley necessary. Thanks for your help!
