I got the same letter but they sent me a new card this month. Don't know why.

If I remember the letter correctly, you could still use the credit card, but the credit card no longer earned any rewards after August 15th, 2016.
The APR was never anything to write home about, so with the ability to earn rewards gone, I closed mine at the end of August.

The letter stated we can use the card until it expires and that the account will close once the card expires(yet they sent me a card with a new expiration date). It didn't state we can still use the card but will no longer receive rewards. In other words, it wasn't a letter stating the rewards structure on an exsisting account would change.

Hmmm, maybe I misread the letter, or maybe there were multiple versions of the letter. My card hadn't been reissued as an EMV card, so even if they let me "keep" it, it would've been closed soon anyway.
In MyPoints, one point isn't equal to one cent, but rather roughly .75 of a cent. Two points are roughly 1.5 cents, or Three points are roughly 2.1 cents, providing that the "points" aren't devalued in the future.
