I have two NFCU cards. One was approved with the lowest APR. the other was not but each year I request a lower APR and it has been going down. This year, I have very little left to be reduced to hit their lowest APR. For the first time, they denied it. I used the card several times this year for small purchases, PIF and my FICO hovers around 780. Was incredibly surprised. I asked what I could do to get back in their good graces but since it's not an adverse action, no reason was given. Anyone else have this issue? It used to be every year you got a reduction until you hit the lowest.
Did you call to request the APR reduction?
Once I called and the CSR told me I was not eligible for a reduction..I thought it did not sound right so I immediately sent a secured message requesting the same and was approved for the lowest APR the next day...this was the only time (knock on wood) that I have ever received incorrect information from a Navy CSR by the way 🙂
Agree it would be worth following up. It's certainly possible that they're tighetning with interest rates heading up, but you can at least find out when you can ask again if the answer is still no.
Thanks. I spoke with phone, online and a manager. All the same answer. They said I can ask for a lower APR again whenever I want but right now there's no movement.
The answer is still sadly no, with no explanation.

You have the lowest rate for one card and almost the lowest rate for the other card. It doesn't matter now what "used to be."
You asked if anyone else has this issue. It is not an "issue." I am guessing that it is NFCU doing due diligence.
