not true..I called tonight and the rep says the first batch of cards go out tomorrow, and she put in my request..says give it 2 weeks.  Didnt say anything about this at all, actually put me on hold for a minute to process my request of the new card with chip and pin

I think nyancat means they're chip and signature now, albeit with a PIN for kiosks.

From their website:

Does my new card have a PIN?
If you'd like, you may set a PIN for your new card, which will allow you to use your card at ATMs and unmanned card readers overseas, such as train station kiosks and toll booths. PINs are not currently required at U.S. merchants.

That sure sounds like chip and sig to me.

Re: NFCU Chip Card

I was curious about this myself but i'm in no hurry heck you can hardly find a US retailer that uses chip card readers.

Re: NFCU Chip Card

Just to clarify, the first batch went out months ago. I was in the pilot group. I canceled a last minute trip to Europe and went to Southeast Asia instead, so I haven't really had an opportunity to use it. My local Wal-mart hasn't activated their pin readers yet, nor has my Target. So far it's just a shiny decoration on my card.,

Re: NFCU Chip Card

To clarify - NFCU pilot cards were chip and PIN. The cards they are now mailing for the final release are chip and signature.

Re: NFCU Chip Card

I just ordered mine as well!

Weird though... they had my card listed twice on the order screen. One with my middle initial and one without. I only have one Visa but it appeared as if I had two cards coming. Eh, maybe it was just a fluke.

Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
