My fiance's grandfather is retired from the Marines and she put her application in yesterday over the phone. They told her it would take 3-5 days to get her opened w/ NFCU. How long has everyone's experience been in getting their membership approved? He was NOT an NFCU member, but as a Marine retiree she qualified. We live together so once her membership comes through I planned on applying myself.
Just curious how long to expect on this. I'd love to roll some wedding debt into a Navy CC.
My approval went through immediately. When in doubt, give them a call.
Did this for my DM about a week ago. Was immediate. I qualified through my dad, she qualified through me.
No wait, all done online.
Give them a call, thier CSR's are great. GOOD LUCK!
Usually a couple days. It's better that they take their time and make sure of your eligibility as opposed to thrm coming back later like as happened to others. I'd say by first of the week you will be approved and then you can immediately apply for cc and Navcheck

The OP situation is bit different. When you're dealing with grandparents it can take a bit longer.
So you folks think she should call Tuesday to check, or too soon?

Calling on Tuesday would be fine. She might hear something on Monday anyways
When I applied over the phone I was approved immediately. Same with my uncle and aunt who I signed up under.
Mine was immediate. I went to the branch with my dad's papers showing he retired from the Navy. Turned out he was an NFCU member anyway, so I would've qualified either way.
