So I decided to check on a couple of pre-approvals. Penfed I already have the Pathfinder $7,500 and Power Cash $17,500 I got in 2019. I never asked for a CLI bc it is my understanding it is a HP and I dont want a pull for a CLI. Today I did a pre-approval for the Platinum and it came back with a pre-approval for $15K. How reliable is this? Not sure what they pull but EQ9 is 772 and TU9 is 752. I have 3% util showing but it is really 1% bc my local CU who I bank with hasnt updated my zero balance since April, only my EX has updated. Is this pre-approval a sure thing? They also pre-app me for an auto loan I put in $40K bc I have a paid off Rav4 that is worth about $16-18K I would trade in should I decide to get a new car. The rate is 7.19 which is a bit high from last time I got an auto loan in 2020. Not sure if I should go for at least the Platinum as I am still researching autos and deciding what I wanna do. Assuming I do wanna go with them for my car if I get one, is pre-qual legit for auto?
As for Navy, I did a Pre-qual for their CC's and I was approved for it looks like all of them but I have had my eye on the Flagship. They pull TU9 correct? That is a 752. I have the More Rewards Amex at $18K which I have had for about 3 years. How solid is this pre-approval??
My main concern is I dont want to waste a hard pull if I am going to get denied or equally as bad get a low limt on any of the cards.. I have I think 4/24 at the moment. I did for a moment think of applying for a Chase card. I got pre-approved for the Amazon signature card but I BK Chase 13 years ago and am concerned about being on the blacklist still. Has anyone gotten the Chase Amazon Pre-app and been denied for being on the blacklist?

Absoutely not, but you're better off as a previous customer with higher limits than most: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/PENFED-PRE-QUALIFY-CARD-LINK/m-p/6680345

not completely solid either, I 'pre-qualified' for the flagship but was only given $1800 on my cashRewards, which means I would have likely been denied on the Flagship if I applied for it
I can change the pre-qualify tool results from secured card only to all cards by moving $1000 from my checking to my share savings and making no other changes.
if you think your profile can justify another 5k with Navy, go for it, but it's not 100% just because of the pre-qualify tool
Decided to go for NFCU Flagship. Pre-Approval means nothing they denied me I got a message that I should apply for a secured card. Yea I have an 18K card thru them with a zero balance but I should apply for a secured card. Second time they denied me for a card and I have a good score and almost no debt but mortgage and student loans. I am annoyed and I am done with them after this.

You may be at your internal credit limit across all cards with them at NFCU. PENFED has been a waste lately on their pre-qual.
