Re: NFCU Recon?

Havent really heard of them reconing at all in any real way. Generous lender and pretty much at least offering secured option

Re: NFCU Recon?

If you get the 3-5 day message after an application then yes it gets sent over to lending for a manual review. You can't recon with NFCU but on the plus side if you get denied by the computer an actual HUMAN will look over your app for final decision

Re: NFCU Recon?

What do you mean an actual human will look over for final decision? She took my info, asked me if my CR had changed in the last 30 days and gave me the computer's decision. That was it. She said I'd get the reason in the mail along with my credit score.

Wonder if going in a branch will help?

Re: NFCU Recon?

what are you wanting to recon? ive never heard of a flat out denial for a credit product with them. if its not instant approval usually you get the 3-5 day message and it gets sent to lending for manual review. the 2 products ive apped for i got the 3-5 day message and the next day ill call card services and ask them to check on my app status right away.

Re: NFCU Recon?

My useless brother got denied by NFCU. This is what it looked like:

Unfortunately, your request for credit has not met Navy Federal lending criteria for approval, see reason(s) below. You will receive notification by mail at your address of record within the next 5-7 normal mail delivery days which will provide an explanation for the decision. This letter will also explain the appeals process that you may initiate.

Serious delinquency
Delinquency
Time since delinquency is too recent or unknown
Number of accounts with delinquency

I may not be a credit analysis, but I think your brother has a few delinquencies...

well they are certainly not going to approve anyone. typically the lowest score ive seen for approval is 600 but the delinquencies have to be fairly old and not too recent.

>>Current Score: Experian PLUS: 517 (05/10/2012), MyFico Equifax: 440 (04/14/12), Walmart TU FICO: 545 (05/10/12), Equifax Monitoring: 581 (05/25/12)

OP has a pretty low FICO. So, while usually Navy will approve most people -- even with low CL -- there have been many people on this forum who have had to start out w/their secured card. This may be the best option for OP. And then address the reasons for denial.

EQ FICO 750 | TU FICO 761 (Walmart) | EX FAKO 767 | Goal: 800+

Edits, funky spacing and spelling due to my iPad not getting along with the forum editor!
