NFCU Reporting/Statement

I am trying to figure out this whole statement cut/reporting thing.

I got my NFCU card last month. My first payment due on 4/11 - I pulled up the account and had my first statement- paid in full last week.

The card isn't reporting yet so I sent a message through the secured portal and asked when it would report. this was the reply

"Any updated credit card information will be reported monthly to the credit bureaus at the end of your billing cycle. Your credit card statement cycles on the 14th of each month. If you have further questions, please let us know. We hope you have a great day!"

So does that mean any use the card gets between now and the 14th will report?  I am trying to make sure my balance is always low at reporting time. Also it has my statement date as 3/14 but I got the card on 3/2 and payment date is 4/11.. I'm confused by all these dates.

I've never worried about this with past cards because I didn't care about credit. always just paid the $25 that was due until I didn't anymore lol.

Re: NFCU Reporting/Statement

Yes, any charges that post by the 14th of the month will be part of the statement balance, and that balance will report to the credit bureaus.

If you want the card to report a 0 balance, you need to stop using the card for the 3-4 days before the statement cuts.  Some people intentionally have cards with statement dates more than a week apart and simply switch their spending from one card to the other for the 3-4 days before the statements cut.

Re: NFCU Reporting/Statement

Your statement closing date is on 3/14 and whatever balance you have at that time, you will have until 4/11 to make a payment on it.

Re: NFCU Reporting/Statement

With my NFCU card...my payment due date is on the 14th. They report my statement balance on the 17th to the buereas.

I make sure it's zeroed out before the 17th and dont use it until after this date. And always pay in full before the due date.

For me...Thats how I manage all cards now!
