Welcome to the forums! Certainly a good idea if you are unable to qualify for an unsecured card. NFCU evaluates cards for graduation at the 6 month mark, and depending upon your credit profile and income the limits can certainly soar after graduation.

Start building a relationship with Navy, It will build your Internal score with them.
