NFCU Success!!! & Question

So...after shaking off the deflation of not getting my 3x CLI on AMEX BCE I remembered that there was one CU that I hadn't joined...NFCU! I apped...waited a day and was approved. I logged in and saw my pre approval for nrewards and apped. Bam! Instant success...20k! I was quite impressed. Now my question is....should I bite the bullet and also app for LOC Navcheck? Or would that be pushing my luck? Will they use the same pull or I'd get another HP? With this new line, I'm looking at 33% util. I believe as of last month my TU was 699 and experian was 680. AAoA before apping was 6yrs 8months.

FYI, I received a notice from citi identity check saying that they pulled TU (and not equifax) for membership and CC. So I received two HP's but I think it was worth it.

AMEX Green NPSL - AMEX BCE 9.5k - CITI Diamonds Preferred 7k - NFCU nRewards 20k - Discover 2k

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

It will be a new HP but almost a gurantee that you would get the full $15k

My wallet: Newest to oldest.

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

No you won't be pushing your luck at all. If they approved you for $20k.. then you will most certainly be approved for the max $15k Nav Chek LOC.

NFCU loves hard pulls... so yes, it will be a hard pull.. but it will be worth it for your UTL!

It will be a new HP for the Navchek app. You will most likely be approved for it with a $20K instant cc approval. I received the full $15K with only a $7K Flagship Visa Sig approval.

One more thing, since you are a new member applying for the Navchek, be prepared for a request of proof of income. Navcheck is considered a loan and the loan department will want proof of income on file.

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

With your current limits and util of 33% you might want to look at paying down debt rather than applying for more credit. Applying for credit "just because" is a foolish practice I see committed over and over again on these boards. I'd personally just sit tight and let my current accounts age so that I'd break that 700 score amongst all three agencies.

I have a BK, however, with two Visa, one store card, a mortgage, and timely student loan payments I'm +700 on EQ and TU. When the time comes for credit that I need, rather than want (new car), I'll be in a good position for a decent interest rate.

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

USF813, thats a good suggestion. These are all good suggestions everyone. I'm not really too concerned about my current utilization because the majority of it was on my citi card which i have 0% on. I spend & pay 4 - 5k / month on my amex green so i'm just going to not use it for one month and that should take care of the citi card. It never hurts to shore up a little bit of availability. IMO getting credit is like getting a job sometimes in the sense that when you need it, its more difficult to get. When you don't need it, thats when all the offers come.

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

FOR SURE apply for NavCheck now and for the full $15k... then sit for a bit on your new accounts.

Be sure to take advantage o the 0% BT with your new Navy card if you have any balances... the 0% will end in just another week or so at end of the month!

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

Yea, I think i'm going to app tonight and then be done for another year and a half. Its funny because I've been reading this forum for 2 years now and can't speak enough about all the good info thats on here. I bought a new house at the end of august (jumbo loan) and read all the things on the housing forum before I applied. If I had known what I know now from this forum, the first 2 mortgages I had wouldn't have been like pulling teeth. This third one wad a breeze. Prior to that, I used my credit strictly for mortgage and an auto loan and hadn't had a HP in 3.5 years. My LO was a bit miffed that I only had one CC at the time with my income / score. Anyhow, kudos to everyone that gives good advice here; it definately works.

Should I just go ahead and fax in a check stub so that they have it on file or wait until they ask me for it?

Re: NFCU Success!!! & Question

congrats! I love NFCU. The only pain is that you have to wait 30 days to enroll in online bill pay. If you do not plan on using NFCU checking (I know you must open one as a member), you should add an external account asap. They will then mail you a code to confirm it, and that it the easiest way to pay your CC.
