My uti just updated so I am about to go on an app spree with NFCU. My question is in regards to the checking account and Navcheck. My EQ is 700 but my husband's is roughly 600 (with a fresh unpaid collection and May 2012 Deed In Lieu of Foreclosure). Ideally we like to have joint checking/savings accounts (especially if we are actually using them). I think though, I am going to apply to NFCU first and get my own checking/savings and apply for the full $15k Navcheck and then add him to the account later. Is this possible? Will the Navcheck automatically report on his CR since he will be a joint account holder? Want to go about this the right way. Should he get his own and add me to that one too? How does it work when Navcheck is attached? I worry if I apply with him intitally I won't get approved for much Navcheck.
NFCU is an awesome CU. I am not sure its going to make much of a difference if you apply with or without him...you will probably get the full 15k if you ask for it. FWIW, my neice and her husband have their own NavCheck attached to their individual accounts as well as a third NavCheck attached to their joint account.
I would say you and your husband can do the same thing....checking accounts at NFCU are totally free and e-checking is only $5 per month (with ATM fees waived, its free). Go get yours, then send him to get his...then get a joint one.

Yes to this.
or at least to go get it first and then go back in a month and make him joint on both checking and navcheck.
you "probably" still get it with no problem but his credit will be pulled and it "might" make it be reviewed instead of probably instant with just you... plus if you just add him tney don't even do a credit check (even for joint) so only you would take the credit hit!
